We had to get a new Discover account number due to fraud on the former number. I have the new card but I cannot figure out how to update it in Quicken. Thanks.

It is probably best not to bother changing the number. Instead, just deactivate the account for downloading, then use File → Add Account to reconnect it, making sure that you link the online account to the existing one in Quicken.

The reason is because the financial institutions don't always use the full or in some cases like Chase they might even use completely different account number. When you use "Set up Now…" it tries to use the information in the Account Details, and if any of it is wrong it might confuse it. When using Add Account it starts fresh and as such will get the new information from the financial institution.

In the Add New Account process, you "link" your new account to the existing register.

You need to first disconnect it from download … THEN you'll be able to Edit the account, change the account number and re-connect the account to online.

Thank you; this is helpful — to deactivate. I would like the new account to be connected to the old one, but I was not sure how to do it. If this doesn't work, I can ask another question. CG

Yes, I thought that was the way to do it, but the Link to New Account option did not come up. I will get back at re3solving this later today — but I asspreciate all the online assistance.

The "link to account" is a selection on the very last dialog where you are presented with the account name from the financial institution and the "Nick name" in Quicken (in grey). The Nick name is the name of the account in Quicken. There is a drop down selection where it should be selected for linking to the one in Quicken.
