Columns in a "Property & Debt won't stay resized

The columns in a "Property and Debit" won't stay resized. Every time I open it the columns are are only showing about 3 numbers in the number columns. I resize them and the next time they are back to small. The rest of the colums are fine. Just the number columns. I had this problem in Quicken 2019 and still have it after downloading the newer Quicken. Version R60.18 build 27.1.60.18. This is the Canadian version.

    Hello @Asgard221,

To clarify, you have been experiencing this issue consistently since 2019? Or did the issue go away and then recently return again? Could you please provide screenshots of what you described?

If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments. Please remember to redact any personal information as needed.

    Thanks!

The problem has been there ever since I added the account in "Property and Debt" in the 2019 version. I just put up with it. Now, I have the new Quicken and I thought the

problem would go away. It has not. I hope the 2 attached screen shots are OK. One is the small columns that appear when I open it. The other is the widened columns that I fix. But they keep going back to small columns

    Hello @Asgard221,

If I understand correctly, you are discussing the columns within the registers of your Property and Debt account(s)? If so, I suggest navigating to Edit > Preferences > Register > check the box that says Remember register filters after Quicken closes.

    I hope this helps!

Thank you Jasmine, I changed the setting as per the attached screen shot. Changed the columns to the width that I wanted. Closed Quicken, then reopened it and the columns were small again.

    Thank you for the images.

What screen size do you have? For example, Laptop 17", 4k hi-res, etc.
How wide is your Quicken window? As wide as the screen? Smaller?
Are you using "View / Use large fonts" or a low Windows resolution setting together with a Windows setting to "make text display larger than 100%"?

It looks to me as if your Quicken window is too narrow and your register view is showing too many columns.
You should be able to remove the Tags and Amount columns from this register view and reclaim a little more space for the other columns.
Ditto for other crowded register views.

Well UKR, I am not sure of some of the information you are asking me. This problem was on my laptop when running Quicken 2019, I now have a desktop and the latest version of Quicken. The problem is still there. It is with the one Property and Debit account only. ALL the other Banking, Credit Cards accounts etc., show correctly.

Windows shows my monitor as generic, Screen is set to 1920 X1080 (recommended)'Scale 100%

And my quicken window is as wide as my screen and the screen measures 17" diagonally.

BUT all of the other Quicken account work correctly, just the one property and debt account is wonky.

I don't know why Quicken seems to be incapable of remembering the column width settings in your register from one Quicken session to the next. Something seems to be preventing Quicken from storing updated settings.

Have you tried moving the right "|" column separator line of the Balance column title towards the right edge of the view?

To make more space available within the register view, remove the unused columns Tags, Amount and Attachments (paper clip). Now widen the individual columns.

If I knew where Quicken stores the column width settings for each account register: in one of the many INI or CFG or DAT files or within the actual QDF data file itself, we might be able to come up with a quick fix suggestion.

There seems to be a bug in the popup registers when used with the loan accounts.

    Started like this:

    Changed to this:

    Restart:

Note I don't see this problem when not using popup registers.

I have tried moving them to the right and they still come to a compressed column. I am glad you could duplicate it. Now if they could just fix it.
