Continuing problem: Initial Tax Planner tab display leaves out Realized Gain

The initial Tax Planner display leaves out the Realized Gain values making the Capital Gains/Losses incorrect.

The Tax Planner Summary display correctly shows the Capital Gains with the included Realized Gains.

This issue has been ongoing for many version of Quicken. Is it noted as a problem that needs to be fixed, or is it just being ignored? One workaround is to select the Capital Gains/Losses link on the Tax Planner tab display and then toggle between User entered and the original setting. That seems to "fix' the Tax Planner tab display, but it's frustrating extra steps to get around a program deficiency.

    Hello @leishirsute,

To assist with this, I checked to see if there were any open tickets for this issue. I'm not seeing any. I tried to replicate the issue in my own Quicken, but could not. What is the exact process you were following when you encountered the issue? Do you recall which version of Quicken you were using when you first encountered this issue?

I look forward to your response!

I think this issue was reported back in R52.33:

The issue still exists, but I've been able to determine that the Projected Tax drop down window is not initially pulling in Realized Gains values.

My procedure to replicate: I start Quicken and access Planning and then Tax Center. The Projected Value that is displayed for Capital Gains/Losses is incorrect. It is missing the amount for Realized Gain. To fix, I have to select the Capital Gains/Losses field in the display. Then in the pop-up Capital Gains and Losses - Schedule D details section, I selected User Entered and then reselected Quicken Data (from 2024) (I basically toggle one setting), then close the popup window. That corrects the Planning:Tax Center display. I was surprised to see that the problem still remains in R60.15. If I exit Quicken and start it again, the problem reappears.

I experienced this issue when using the Premier version but have not seen it since upgrading to Business. It may be a Premier issue. I'm wondering if any users from the 2023 thread are still experiencing the issue?

I participated in the referenced thread above and also the one below that @Quicken Kristina acknowledged she could reproduce. If the thread below is resolved, it will resolve the OP issue by refreshing the window when opened.

    Thank you for your replies,

The additional information you provided does make it sound like the discussion that @markus1957 linked:

That issue was reported (QWIN-24394). When I check on the ticket, I can see that it's still open and in work, no ETA.

To clarify if this is the same issue or not, do you see this problem every time you open your Quicken, or does it happen only when there are new realized gains/losses?

    Thank you!

In my case, I happen every time I open Quicken and there are the same realized gains/losses.

Thank you for providing status that there is an open ticket about this issue.

I didn't know this issue existed until now. In my case, the Projected Tax card (first image in the OP) does not show any Capital Gains/Losses although I do have a gain in the form of taxable "_RlzdGain". But the Tax Planner Summary does, and it shows the correct value. I am running Deluxe R60.15.

Edit/Update: I made an edit to the Tax Planner Summary and then reverted my edit, and now the Capital Gains/Losses value (_RlzdGain) correctly shows in the Projected Tax card! Everything is now correct.

Update 2: It reverts back to missing the _RlzdGain amount after each restart of the program.

@BK Does the correction remain if you restart Quicken?

i have reported this problem several times and it continues to exist. The CG reported on the projected tax is incorrect. It is only corrected by opening the tax planner making an adjustment to the CG within the tax planner and closing the tax planner. When I close and reopen Quicken the projected tax reverts to an incorrect amount.

Thank you for your replies @leishirsute, @hmday, and @BK,

Based on the additional information you've provided on the issue, it sounds like it's slightly different from the known issue, since the incorrect number is coming back every time you open Quicken. I forwarded this issue to the proper channels to be further investigated. In the meantime, if yo haven't already done so, please navigate to Help > Report a problem and submit a problem report with log files attached and (if you are willing) a sanitized copy of your data file in order to contribute to the investigation.

While you will not receive a response through this submission, these reports will help our teams in further investigating the issue. The more problem reports we receive, the better.

    We apologize for any inconvenience!

    Thank you.

FWIW, in my experience and for those in the linked thread, the CapGains number being shown in the Projected Tax window upon opening Quicken was the value in the LTCG adjustment box details section. I'm curious if that is still the case and whether the issue is limited to the Premier version?

    @markus1957

In my case, it is the LTCG as well as you pointed out.

I am on the Deluxe edition and seem like so is @leishirsute based on the signature line. So the issue seems to exist in both, Deluxe and Premier.
