Downloading Investment Transactions
I use Quicken Classic Deluxe. It suddenly stopped downloading my investment transactions and is having me reconnect my accounts to my broker. When I try, it wants to link to a checking/savings and adds it to my account list. Is there any way to bypass that? I do not want all these linked accounts in my Quicken account list. It didn't make me do this when I originally set it up. Thanks.

Morgan Stanley Cash Management. After I enter my username and password in the Quicken online setup, Quicken asks me to link it to an account in my account list.

Hello @L Jones,
Do you have other Morgan Stanley Cash Management accounts? Or is Quicken attempting to link to random accounts with different financial institutions? Is the option to "Add As New" greyed out?
Let me know!

They are all investment accounts. Quicken downloaded a checking for each account. Then when I try to set the investment account up for the downloading transactions, Quicken prompts me to link one of those checking accounts then adds it to my account list and proceeds to download all the investment activity into it. I don't want those "checking" accounts in my account list. When I click not to add, it won't save my download name and pw.

Hello @L Jones,
Thank you for providing more information!
If you haven't already, I suggest you try to deactivate all accounts for this financial institution, then force Quicken to "discover" all available accounts and see if this will help resolve it. Please, follow the instructions below in order to do so. It is recommended to save a backup before proceeding (just in case).
- Open the Account List in Quicken (Tools > Account List OR Ctrl + A)
- If present, select the Show Hidden Accounts checkbox at the bottom of the Account List
- Edit each account with this financial institution to Deactivate (or Remove From One Step Update) on the Online Services tab
- Click on the General tab and remove any info displayed in the Financial Institution, and Account/Routing Number fields. Note: The account must be deactivated first before these fields can be edited.
- When finished, close the Account List
- Close, then re-open Quicken
- Navigate to Tools > Add Account
- Search for Morgan Stanley Cash Management
- Walkthrough this process as if you were going to add a new account, providing the login credentials and answering any security questions/processes presented until you reach the screen where Quicken displays the Accounts Discovered at the financial institution
- Very carefully LINK each of the found accounts to the appropriate account you already have set up in Quicken.
Please let me know how this goes!
