Cannot display different budgets on the same Classic Dashboard

I have two budgets and so I have added 2 Budget (Widgets) to my custom Dashboard. However, even though I can manually change which budget is displayed in which widget, it resets every time I leave the Dashboard and come back.

For example, if I set the top Widget to Budget 1, and the bottom Widget to Budget 2 and then leave the dashboard by clicking on my checking account. When I come back, both Widgets are displaying Budget 2 (because that was the last change I made for either widget).

Seems like a bug that you can add multiple widgets but they don't remember their own settings. Any fix?

That does sound, to me, like a bug. Have you reported this to Q Support via the link at the top of this page.

THIS forum is "user-to-user", not Q employees, and since I've never heard of this before I don't know anything else about it.

Thanks. Yeah I had sent it in as an issue but have not heard back so I thought I'd ask just to see if someone else figured out a trick.

I did find out that there is an "Expense" widget you can add and then I can select the Root Categories that I used in Both of my budgets… it looks a bit odd, but it gives me the monthly total so far. Not ideal but …. :)

Don't expect to hear back after reporting an issue. It just doesn't work that way. And, until JUST BEFORE any fix is released, they won't even discuss it publicly.

    Hello @Bill L,

I attempted to replicate this issue, but was unable to.

To clarify— did you just add both budgets in the Dashboard recently and immediately noticed this issue happening, or have you had them set up in the Dashboard for a while, and the issue just recently started happening but was working fine before?

Also, what if any troubleshooting have you tried so far? And if you don't mind, could you please provide screenshots? If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.

    Thank you!

I have had my custom "classic" dashboard the same for years. However I just recently created an additional budget and added it to my Dash. It is only when I did that did the issue start (because it was the first time I had duplicate widgets on the same dashboard)
    • Oddly, in trying to get a screenshot, I could not make it mess up again by going to different accounts and then back to the home screen. However, if I closed Quicken and then re-opened it, the problem was there. And to clarify, this is with Quicken Classic for Windows.

I've attached 2 screen shots. One shows the dashboard how I manually configure it before I close Quicken. The second shows what comes up when I re-open Quicken.

Thank you for the additional information.

Can you tell us where your data file is located on your computer— is it on your computer hard drive (C: drive) or in a cloud-based/external drive (e.g.: OneDrive, DropBox, USB, etc)?

Also to start with, I suggest you try clearing Quicken cache. First, save a backup (just in case), then you will need to close Quicken. From there, open your File Explorer, you will need to remove the “Cache” folder from “C:\programData\Quicken”, then reopen Quicken.

Once you have reopened Quicken, let us know if the issue still continues!
