Sync cloud data to desktop

I just spoke with a support representative and they told me to come here and ask for support. They were unwilling to put me in touch with someone who understands how programming works and who knows the underlying application logic.

I want to know why it is supposedly impossible to sync my cloud data to the desktop application. Clearly there is a two-way data sync, according to Quicken's own docs, so I do not understand why I can see my cloud accounts on the Windows application but not interact with them:

I know the data exists, I can interact with my three years of transaction data via the web application. Why it would not be possible to sync that back to the desktop application is beyond me, I have built many APIs and I can't imagine why it would be difficult to export my user's data so I can import it locally.

Can somebody please just help me get my data synced from the cloud to the desktop? My old hard drive failed and I don't have a copy of my QDF, I just want to use the desktop app instead of the web-based one and still have access to my existing data. Due to Quicken's import limitations there is no way I would be able to get the full history of my transaction data by adding the accounts again locally, I want the data I already have stored.

My support ticket number is T3-IN - 11486762.

You might have backup copies in Onedrive. Look in the Documents folder > Quicken > Backup. Copy it to your data file path and open it from there. Don't attempt to run a data file from Onedrive.

I find it odd that someone that states,

I have built many APIs and I can't imagine why it would be difficult to export my user's data so I can import it locally

does not have a backup of either their system or their Quicken data file.

When it comes to creating or re-creating a Quicken data file, it is a one-way street. Let this be a hard learned lesson concerning backups as with friends, make lots of them.

QWeb and QMobile are companion apps that are created from and sync with the original data file on the computer and only that specific file. They are linked together by a specific ID so once the originating file ID no longer exists then sync capability for QWeb and QMobile is lost and there is no way to restore that.

If you had a recent backup file then maybe you could restore that sync capability. But if you do not have a backup file available, you will not be able to download your QWeb data into a new data file.

However, you should be able to export the QWeb data in a CSV file. You can read about that here: https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-web-frequently-asked-questions/#section-windows-1 .

Once you have the CSV files, you can try to import them into Quicken. You can read up on that here: https://www.quicken.com/support/how-do-i-import-data-quicken-windows/ .

If that import process does not work, you can try using a file conversion software that can possible convert the CSV files into a QIF format that Quicken can then import. A free one developed by a long-time Quicken user and active participant in this Community is ImportQIF. You can read up on it and download it from here: https://www.quicknperlwiz.com/ .
