Quicken Mac doesn't update hidden accounts

When I hide an account, Quicken stops downloading transactions for that account. If I unhide it, Quicken will start downloading transactions for that account again. It seems to be the case regardless of the connection / institution. This is what I'd expect of Closed accounts but not Hidden accounts and I don't see this behavior described anymore. Is this intentional?

This Quicken Help page addresses your question:

    https://info.quicken.com/mac/hide-separate-close-or-delete-accounts

It seems to agree with your expectations. I personally have no experience with hidden but active (connected) accounts that would tell me if transaction downloads stop for hidden accounts.

@qubiti I would report this using Help > Report a Problem. As @lhossus says, Quicken's published documentation, as well as common sense, would lead one to expect hidden-but-not-closed accounts to download transactions.

Sometimes the quicken Mac developers choose to do things which defy their common-sense labels. For instance, hiding an account is actually termed "Hide in Lists". The original goal of that was so you wouldn't keep seeing such accounts in dropdown menus for accounts or in the sidebar. In fact, in earlier versions of Quicken Mac (2015, 2016, 2017), there were separate checkboxes for "Hide in Lists" and "Hide in Reports". Somewhere along the way, the developers "simplified" that to a single "Hide in Lists" checkbox — which also hides accounts from reports (and budgets and dashboards). I wish they would go back to having two separate Hide settings, because I want to hide old accounts from lists, but I want to see old data reflected in any reports and portfolios. That's a different issue; I'm just using it to illustrate that sometimes they implement features which are labeled with one meaning but operate differently.

Thanks for the answers. Yeah I've reported it. Hope they consider it a bug since it doesn't match the documentation and fix it…
