Duplicate Scheduled Transactions

I schedule automated monthly deposits and payments in the checking account so I do not have to remember to enter them before downloading at the beginning of each month. Recently I have noticed that many (possibly most or all) of these transactions are duplicated in the register a month or two in advance of the schedule date. Sometimes this happens when I edit the scheduled transaction because the monthly payment or deposit has changed (at the beginning of a new year, for example) but some of these are fixed deposits that have never changed. I have right-clicked to delete the old transaction and sometimes Quicken asks if I want to delete the series of scheduled transactions but other times just the one transaction is deleted. It seems that in either case the duplicate returns the next month.

That sounds like a frustrating issue. To help troubleshoot this problem, please provide more information. Do you have these reminders set to automatically enter into the register? You can check this from the Bills & Income section by clicking the 3 dots next to the problem reminder, selecting Edit All Instances…, then in the Details tab, under Mark as Paid (at the lower right corner of the window), check to see what it shows.
When these duplicates appear in your register, does one of the transactions have the red/orange pencil next to it and the other have a blue dot next to it? If that is what you see, then it's possible the transaction is downloading from the financial institution, but not being matched to the reminder. You should be able to correct that by manually linking the downloaded transaction to the reminder (drag and drop onto it to manually match).

Thanks, Kristina, I will not be able to provide more detail until some show up again as I just deleted a number of duplicates today. I only download bank transections at the beginning of each month and I didn't expect future transactions to be downloaded before the due date. Normally I schedule individual non-recurring payments at my bank's website but most recurring payments are authorized as ACH transfer at the payee's website. Unexpectedly, one duplicate transaction I deleted today was a deposit scheduled in the beginning of March.

To clarify, do you have any reminders for these transactions that are duplicating in your Quicken at all? You would be able to see this by clicking on Bills & Income.
Any bill reminders you have set up would show up in the Bills tab. Any Income reminders would show up in the Income tab.
Are the problem transactions transfers between accounts that you track in your Quicken?
If that information won't be available until more duplicates download, then please post once the information is available.

The duplicated deposit at the beginning of March that I deleted is shown twice in Income in Bills in Income. How can I correct that? I don't remember any duplicated transfers between accounts but I will watch for that also.

If you have duplicate reminders in the Income tab of Bills & Income, then you can backup your Quicken file and delete one of the reminders by clicking the 3 dots on the far right side of the reminder and selecting Delete Series.
