Merge separate quicken files and retain split categories

I am trying to merge my wife's and my files into one. I split them for a number of reasons several years ago an now want to merge them back together. I used QXF to import the two files into a new one, made by doing a Quicken copy of my file, then importing her QXF export.

As I was going through the accounts in the new file I noticed that the transactions with split categories now were blank.

I have backups of the old files so I have all of the original data, but would really prefer not to have to go back and manually re-enter all of the split category data.

Is there any way to accomplish this short of manually rekeying the data?

Thanks.

    Hello @Dbass197,

If you haven't already done so, I recommend following the steps in the FAQ linked below to merge your Quicken files. The process involves using QIF files instead of QXF files, so it may allow you to get past the problem you're encountering with split transactions not carrying over properly.

    I hope this helps!

Kristina, The answer pointed out a possible and lengthy process to maybe get where I wanted - split transactions showing up in the combined account. I decided to keep working in the split databases. It's cumbersome but workable. I'll live with it. Thank you for checking back with me.
