How do I enable tags for split transactions on Quicken Classic for Windows

I see other posts here where the Split Transaction windows has columns for Category, Tags, Memo, and Amount. I don't have a Tags column. I've searched through Edit > Preferences without finding anything. Tags are much less useful if I can't enter them on splits

@jjwilson61 Are you showing a Tags column in the main register for the account? Because via the GEAR icon in the upper right of that account register is where Tags (and all other available columns) are selected.

I was looking at it from the Spending tab where the Tag column is there regardless of the account the transaction is from. But it was a transaction from my checking acct and when I checked that, it didn't have a tag column. Adding the tag column also added the column to the Split Transaction window. That behavior is so unobvious that I'd consider it a bug.

You consider the ability to customize your view to be a bug? Strange definition. It's working as intended, ergo NO BUG!
NOT allowing to customize the spending view is a Design Flaw, but again not a bug.

I guess it sort of makes sense, but I must say that like @jjwilson61 I would not have known that the Tag column must be displayed in the account's Register for it to be included in the Split window. If this were by design, I would assume that the Memo would also disappear from the Split window if it was not included in the Register view, but that is not the case.
Quicken Help does not mention that you must display the Tag in the Register for it to be included in the Split window. I would certainly call that a bug.

@Jim_Harman I'm not sure why you wouldn't have expected that. They're Account-Level settings … and I can't see any reason why such wouldn't apply to splits within the account.
It STILL doesn't meet my definition of a Bug. It's working exactly as expected. Bugs don't work as expected.
Design issues are a management issue. Bugs are a programming issue. Don't blame the programmers for management decisions.

You know you can enter a tag when you enter the category. You don’t need a tag field or column. Just add a /{tag} at the end. Like Auto/Volvo

As elsewhere in QWin, tags may be added in the Category column followed by a slash. This is how I run to not waste space because I use few tags.
In the Category column, put Cat/Tag, e.g., Travel/Business.
