    Hello @Paul Dionne,

    Thanks for reaching out!

You can follow the instructions below to transfer your data file between two Mac devices. You can also follow this link to access a FAQ that provides more information.

Step 1: Install Quicken on your new computer

Step 2: Put a copy of your Quicken file on an external disk

    1. On your old computer, open Quicken and select File > Save a Backup
    2. Back up your data file to an external drive or disc (USB thumb drives or external hard drives are great!). You’ll need to be able to upload the file to your new computer from your drive. You can also follow the steps in this article to use AirDrop to move files on a Mac.

Step 3: Restore your Quicken file on the new computer

    1. Connect the external drive or disc to the new computer.
    2. Open Quicken and select File > Restore from Backup
    3. In the left pane, your external drive will be listed under Devices. Select it, then locate the backup file you created and double-click it.
    4. Click Restore This File... then select a location in the Where drop-down to save the restored file. Choose a location on the local drive of the new computer, such as the Documents folder.
    5. Click Restore

    I hope this helps!

Since you're going to have to run Quicken 7 with Big Sur, the first thing I would do is look for a backup file that was made using Quicken 7. Quicken 8 just came out a month ago so you should be able to find the Quicken 7 backup in your Backups folder that was automatically created when you upgraded to Quicken 8. Look for a file with a name that starts with "BACKUP (Pre-Update)" dated on or after December 31st. Copy that backup to your Big Sur machine & restore from that backup. You''ll have to recreate any account activity from this month.

The only other thing you could do would be to export your data from Quicken 8 & then import that into a new Quicken data file under Quicken 7, but you'd lose things like saved reports that way. Restoring from backup is going to preserve as much as possible from your Quicken data file.

Also, if you're getting an error on your Big Sur machine when you start Quicken complaining about your version of Mac OS, you might need to reinstall Quicken 7. You can get the last version of Quicken 7 (7.10.1) from here.
