Reauthorization of closed American Express accounts

Hello,
For the last several months, Quicken asks me to reauthorize older, closed AMEX accounts.
Looking at this post below, I have done the following:
1. Ensured the Details in the older accounts do not have financial institution or account number fields populated.
2. Super Validated my Quicken file.
No luck, it still prompts for the reauthorization. Does anyone have any suggestions?
In theory, there is some setting somewhere that contains this information, and it should be removed.
Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

@cr7 stated that Validate/Super Validate were done.
I think one thing to try might be a Copy. Copy will disconnect all online services in the copy and that might get rid of whatever is connected to the old account. It will mean setting the online services up again, but it might be worth it if it fixes the problem. In any case, if doesn't fix the problem you can always go back to the original file or a backup.

Do you have others cards at Amex? Are you sure they are closed on the Amex side?

Maybe even more important, have they been removed from the authorization list at the financial institution?
When I look at Chase (I don't have an American Express Card) I see this in linked apps list:
This account has been closed since 2018. I "authorize it", Quicken will try to download transactions from it, and probably would get an error.

Hi, Thanks for the quick response. Let me answer your questions.
- I have no other cards at AMEX any longer. The accounts were all closed a few years ago.
- Even if I did have an AMEX card, the fact is I am technically not online when the reauthorization popup appears.
I have been troubleshooting, and discovered a few things:
There are 3 older, closed AMEX accounts in Quicken. Let's call them A, B, C. For each of them, I cleared out the financial institution & account number in the Details tab.- in Account B, no matter what I do (blank out the name, type in a random string, etc), when I close and reopen the account details - the name "American Express" is now populated in the Financial Institution field.
- Even though all 3 accounts are closed, Accounts B and C list "Direct Connection" in the Transaction Download field of the Account List
- When I initiate one step update, I am prompted to reauthorize for Accounts A and C only.
Does this help?

You could try signing out of your quicken account, then sign back in.
Edit/Preferences - Quicken ID and Cloud Accounts, then "Sign in as Different User".
I think AMEX went EWC+ some time ago.
You could also try making a current backup (place in safe location), then delete the Amex accounts from Quicken. Try OSU and see if they still pop up. Then restore your backup. This will help indicate if it's something in your data file.
Have you done the Validate/Super Validate yet?

@Chris_QPW thanks for the suggestion about creating a copy! I did that, and the problem is fixed. Sure, I had to setup the online services again - but that wasn't too bad.
The reauthorize dialog wasn't that big a deal, which is why I mostly ignored it. However, it was certainly somewhat annoying 😁 Now it's already a dim memory😄 Thank you again! cheers
