Hide account from Account Bar, but can still access via Account List?

Quicken Canada Subscription Member ✭✭

Quicken Classic Business & Personal, R60.18, Windows 10. I would like to 'hide' accounts from the Account Bar (that's the box running up and down the left side of my display, right?), but I still want to be able to access these accounts, presumably via the Account List. So, it is another 'how do I hide accounts from the Account Bar and keep them visible in the Account List?' questions.

I have seen reference to a 'show hidden accounts' button in the Account List dialog box, but I see no such thing in mine.

I feel quite silly, because I suspect that there is something very obvious that I'm missing. But what is it?

The rationale is probably obvious: the account that I want to hide are no longer in use, but I still want/need to be able to access the historical information from their registers.

Thank you to anyone patient enough to help me with this.

    Hello @Whynot2,

The "Show hidden accounts" checkbox is near the lower left in the Account List window.

If you're not able to see it, do you have Large Fonts on? You can check that by going the View menu option. If there is a checkmark next to Use Large Fonts, then it's turned on. If there is no checkmark, then it's turned off.

If you see that Use Large Fonts is turned on, try turning it off, then check to see if you're able to view the "Show hidden accounts" checkbox on the Account List window.

Note - The "Show hidden accounts" checkbox defaults to unselected every time you open the Account List.

    I hope this helps!

@Quicken Kristina with respect, the info you provided is correct, but doesn't (fully) answer the question posed. The first bit of information is how to get the account hidden in the first place….

@Whynot2 the way to hide account is select "edit" for a given account from the Account List you show in your screenshot, then select the last tab, "Display Options". You'll find the hide account checkbox there.

Then, when you need to view the hidden accounts, you can use the show hidden accounts feature as explained by @Quicken Kristina above.

Arctic Hare…Thank you for input. That is what I expected, but attached is a screen capture of the lower left of my 'Account List'; I don't see that 'Show Hidden Accounts' checkbox. And I checked; 'Use large fonts' is not selected. Minor league playing with the dialog box…making it wider, longer, going to bottom, etc…it still doesn't appear, so I really didn't know what to do.

Quicken Kristina…Thank you as well. Just to clarify…so, what I'd have to do is …

    1. for each account I wanted to hide in the account bar, I'd have to edit in 'Account Detail' to change the setting to hide it in both the account bar and account list…
    2. My account bar, and my account list, would be pruned and rationalized as I'd like it to be…
    3. But if I wanted to access that account, I'd have to go to, let's see…Tools→Manage Hidden Accounts→ and change the "Hide in Account Bar and Account List" setting there?

Alternatively, I could just go to "Manage Hidden Accounts" and select as necessary hide the accounts I don't want to see routinely?

Either way, I think I'm close to doing what I want to do…although it does seem somwhat that the "Hide in Account Bar" isn't a distinct setting from "Hide in Account List". As we used to say…it's just software…

    Thanks again.

OK, so this is the logic: If you don't have any hidden accounts, there is no 'Show Hidden Accounts' button. If you hide an account, the button appears. Not sure I fully agree with that logic, as oppose to, say, an inactive greyed-out button, but OK, I think that step by step I'm getting this, with your help, collectively.

    Thanks again.

    Thank you for the follow-up,

That is correct. Both the Display tab in the Account Details window and Manage Hidden Accounts allow you to hide/unhide accounts. For more information about hiding accounts, you may find these help articles useful:
