Updates with Multiple Synchrony Accounts Debit Wrong Account

For many months now, my six Synchrony accounts frequently debit the wrong account when updating. I have to monitor this and manually correct them for every download. For example, I find a debit in the Harbor Freight account that should have come from my checking account [Chase XXX] (always) but instead is shown as [Sam's Mastercard] or another Synchrony account. It seems to happen randomly with all six accounts. I have only one sign-in to Synchrony Bank online, and it shows me all six accounts. I have not been able to establish separate sign-ons for each Synchrony account (and I really don't want to).

I am running Quicken Classic Business & Personal R60.20, Build 27.1.60.20 on Windows 11 Home.

    Hello @JFSamuels,

I understand how frustrating this issue must be, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention!

I will need some additional information to further investigate this issue.

Does this issue happen with every transaction download, or does it seem sporadic? Are there specific types of transactions (e.g.: online purchases, auto-payments, etc.) that this issue tends to happen with more frequently? When this happens, is it consistently swapped with the same incorrect account, or does it vary each time? Have you noticed any issues with other financial institutions, or does this problem seem isolated to Synchrony accounts?

Additionally, could you please tell us where on your computer your data file is located? Do you have it stored in a folder located on your local hard drive (C: Drive), or in a cloud-based/external drive (e.g.: OneDrive, DropBox, USB, etc.)?

Check back and let us know! Thank you.

Thank you for your swift response. Here is the requested data:

    1. I am 80% sure that it happens all the time (on random accounts only from Synchrony).
    2. It only seems to be for credits from my Chase Bank checking account to Synchrony (automatically paid in full monthly for each of the Synchrony accounts.
    3. Usually, I spot the error by just scanning the recent credits. If it says anything other than [Chase Checking xxxx] I change it to that. Sometimes it debits its own account!
    4. It does not happen with any other external accounts.
    5. The data file is resident on DropBox, and has been for many years .
    6. In the One Step update, there is only one entry, "Amazon.com Store Card - Synchrony" I don't understand this, but all 6 Synchrony accounts get updated.
    7. I just ran One Step, but no cards were recently paid, so there are no errors. The transactions seem OK.
    8. Here are the accounts:
      1. Amazon
      2. Lowe's
      3. Sam's Club
      4. JC Penney
      5. Harbor Freight
      6. Carecredit

If you have issues with transfer transactions not being generated correctly:
For best results I recommend you manually enter transfer transactions into your register BEFORE you download transactions from the bank which contain the transfer confirmations. For recurring transfers use scheduled reminders and enter them a day or two before the due date.
Be sure to use distinct Payee Names for each transfer / credit card payment to avoid confusing Quicken - memorized payee entries.
That takes the guesswork out of the transaction downloading process. Because a correctly entered transfer transaction already exists in your account registers, the process should just match the downloaded transfer transaction to the existing one in both accounts.

Thanks. Yes, I forgot that I used to do that but thought I'd let Quicken and Synchrony figure it out. Guess I was wrong. So, I'll schedule the payments, with zero $ amounts in my checking register. At best, Quicken will ask me if the incoming transactions are the ones in my register and I will say, Yes. At least the correct accounts should be charged.
