You simply buy a copy of Premier and install it. The data files are completely interchangeable.

In doing so, you'll lose all "business specific" functions, such as invoicing and Mileage tracker, but your data will be intact.

Any business function specific accounts, such as Invoicing, will become regular Q Asset and Liability accounts.

I'd recommend that you wait until your current B&P subscription is nearly expired before buying and installing the Premier version AND making sure that your B&P product isn't set for auto-renew.

To clarify: Downgrading will not take effect until after the current subscription expires. So, there is no need to buy the Premier subscription until then….unless you find a good discounted price on a Premier subscription from some retailer (such as NewEgg, Amazon, Walmart, etc.) prior to that so you can save some money. But, still, it will not take effect until the current subscription expires. Just make sure that the subscription you purchase does not say it is for new subscribers only because that will not be usable by current subscribers.

Also, there is nothing new to install. There is only one Quicken Classic Windows software (another one for Mac). The subscription simply tells the software which features are to be turned on or off. All you will need to do is enter the Activation Code to have it take effect.

Thank you so much. I never used the "business specific" functions all the years I had this subscription. My business is super simple. I never used invoicing or Mileage tracker. I just need the end of year spending reports to do my taxes. I took my account off of auto renewal and will purchase Premiere just before my subscription renews in November.

Now that I researched a little further, I'm thinking that I don't even need Premiere. I just want to track my bank accounts, credit cards and Vanguard investments. I won't be using the bill pay functions nor do I need to do anything fancy with my investments. I just want to be able to reconcile balances in each account at the end of the month and have reports that tell me what I spend by category.

I think you can contact Quicken Support and ask them to downgrade you to whatever edition of QWin you prefer. I believe they can do it in real time from their end by tweaking your account. I got downgraded to Premier because I never use the Business & Rental features and found them to be clutter in the user interface. Don't expect any money back, although you should get the lower price at renewal time.

Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, as of 2025 using QWin Premier (US) on Win10 Pro & Win11 Pro on 2 PCs.
