Asset class mixtures are not being downloaded correctly

Question

I own VTTHX (Vanguard Target Retirment 2035 fund) and have the shares recorded in Quicken. The Edit Security Details dialog for VTTHX shows the correct symbol, "Download asset class information" is checked, and "Matched with online security" is checked. I download transactions from Vanguard regularly. When I click the "Define…" button for Asset Class mixture, it shows these numbers as of Feb 2025:

Domestic Bonds: 30%.

Large Cap Stocks: 30%

Small Cap Stocks: 10%

International Stocks: 25%

Cash: 5%

All other classes are 0%. In particular, "Global Bonds" are 0%.  However, Vanguard's page for this fund (https://investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/mutual-funds/profile/vtthx#portfolio-composition) shows that it holds 9.4% global bonds.

What is going on?

Also, the allocations shown in Quicken for this Retirement Fund are the cumulative allocations of all of the individual securities included in the 4 combined index funds that make up this Retirement Fund.

One could drill into those the asset allocations for each of those 4 index funds and calculate out the weighted asset allocations to come up with the total asset allocations for the Retirement Fund.  But for most people that would be a mind numbing and terribly time consuming effort, especially since the allocations in each index fund will vary some over time which will then change the asset allocations for the Retirement Fund as a whole.

I am OK with letting the investment companies (and Quicken?) do those calculations for me.

@bjaspan You are right, the downloaded asset classes are not what you might expect. VTTHX is a "Fund of funds" and about 9% of its portfolio is the Vanguard Total International Bond Fund (VTILX). If I download the asset classes for VTILX, it shows as 41% cash and 51% domestic bonds. This is a US Dollar hedged fund, which might explain why whatever source Quicken is using for the asset classifies it that way.

Or maybe the downloaded asset allocations lump all bonds as Domestic.

In any event, you would have to work with Quicken support to get this changed.

In the meantime you can correct the allocations and un-check the Download asset class information box for this security.

There is no way that the Vanguard Target Retirement 2035 Fund changed its Global Bonds allocation from 9% as of January 31 to 0% as of February 25.
