The continued refinement of the business features is good to see — for those users who run a business and have a Business & Personal subscription. For those who don't have a Business subscription, though, this is a second consecutive release with very little added functionality, and we continue to hope that some of the promised major feature upgrades will begin arriving soon.

For Business users, even with the new features, I continue to find it a bit cumbersome to track payment history, particularly when payments are split among invoices and when a payment has been misapplied to the wrong invoice. I created a new Idea thread requesting a few changes which would make tracking payments easier: a main Payments list view page (just like the Invoices list view page), main a payment number visible for each payment in order to track which payment was applied where, and including in the Memo field of Client Payment bank transactions the invoice(s) the payment was applied to. If you're a Business & Personal user, please take a look at this feature request and add your vote and comments.

Is it just me, or does the updater keep going in a loop?

I'm currently on version 8.0.1, and every time I start Quicken, it asks me if I want to update. I click "yes," it goes through the update process, restarts Quicken, and then I'm still on 8.0.1. It asks me again if I want to update.

I've gone through this loop three times now and have given up.

This isn't the first time it's happened. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

@Alin My update took place smoothly on the first try, on two different Macs.

My suggestion for you is to log in to the Quicken.com website, download the Quicken Mac installer, drag the Quicken.app from the Applications folder to the Trash, and then run the installer. (The only thing is that I don't know if they have updated the version on Quicken/com yet; you might have to wait until early next week if they still have version 8.0.1 there.)

A possible source of the issue is your Quicken preferences file, which may have a stuck setting that isn't getting reset with the update. You can remove it to your Desktop temporarily to see if it resolves the issue, as Quicken will always create a new preferences file upon launch if it doesn't find one present. But you might need to reset a few settings which are not specific to your data file. The preferences file I'm referring to lives in:

    Macintosh HD/Users/[your user account]/Library/Preferences

and is the file called "com.quicken.Quicken.plist".

..A possible source of the issue is your Quicken preferences file, which may have a stuck setting that isn't getting reset with the update.

That's interesting. I will try that if I encounter this problem again.

In the meantime, I did exactly what you suggested: I downloaded the installer, removed the existing Quicken.app, and reinstalled it. Now I'm good.

Thank you very much! I really appreciate all the advice.
