What is QEL in Validate log?

I understand QDF is the extension for the datafile, but what is QEL in the Validate log?
Is there any document that gives an idea of what the messages mean in the Validate log or whta the Validate operation is doing pertaining to each message in the log?

QEL stands for Quicken Electronic Library. During Quicken's Validate and Repair process, the program checks the integrity of the data in the QEL file (or its equivalent in the .qdf file). Historically, the QEL file held Quicken's data. Now, it's integrated into the .qdf data file.

Basically, as @The Keeper says, the data that is now in the .QDF file was originally in several separate files. The messages in the Validate and Repair log sometimes refer to those old files. There have bee many requests over the years for an improved Validate and Repair process and clearer messages in the log, but so far any improvements have been very minor.

Here is a peek into the QDF file (which is a compressed file that 7-Zip can read/but not write. If you let it write to it, it will mess it up).

If you remember the old separate files that were the "Quicken data file" before Quicken 2010 you will remember these files.

.QDF the actual database.

.QEL this stores the "unique Ids" for the downloaded transactions.

.QPH this is security prices.

.QTX this is some kind of index, that in the past when it was separate "didn't matter too much", because if you deleted it, Quicken would just recreate it.

It is not compressed, as your screen shot shows. It is simply a package, commonly called an archive. I'm sure it's not compressed in order for I/O to be faster.
