Renaming Rules: Report and Maintenance

Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭
  1. The ability to automatically add renaming rules is automatic if one is changed. In doing so, it automatically adds that rule, even though it is turned off. This is a an error that continues to enable us to do double work.

2. There is no report of the Renaming Rules.

3. There is no way to maintain what the original name was what is should be renamed to.

4. There is no way to enable selecting multiple or all names to delete. This must be done ONE BY ONE. I bet we have hundreds of these to delete all because it AUTOMATICALLY BUILDS THE FILE!!!

"SOMEONE" knows how to fix this and get this corrected. IT IS TIME TO DO IT NOW!!!

    1. The setting at Edit > Preferences >Downloaded Transactions > "Automatically create renaming rules when I rename Payees" should enable and disable automatic rule creation. Does that work for you?
    2. I agree it would be nice to have a report.
    3. If you click on the gear at the top right of the account and select Register columns, you can enable the Downloaded payee column. That will show what the original payee was. Also when reviewing downloaded transactions, renamed Payees are in "quotes". You can hover over a renamed one to see the original.
    4. It is 3 keypresses to delete a rule - select the name, click on -, confirm. Or you can disable all of them.

You may also find it helpful to disable the setting at Edit > Preferences > Downloaded transactions > Automatically apply Quicken's suggested name to Payees. Sometimes Quicken's automatic renaming makes things worse. See this discussion for more info
