How to setup foreign savings account (Thailand savings account)

Trying to setup a Thai Bangkok Bank savings account in Quicken. So far no luck.

Using Quicken Classic Deluxe (assuming US version since I was in the US when I purchased and installed it)

Version R61.21, Build 27.1.61.21

I saw in this Mar 2021 posting that user YingDave gave some instructions on how to do it:

Unfortunately, his screenshots do not match what I see when trying to setup a savings account.

He shows at the "Enter name of your financial institution" that there is an Advance Setup option at the bottom and that on the next screen you are then able click on a Currency drop down to select what type of currency to use for that bank account.

In R61.21 there is NO 'Advanced Setup' section anywhere anymore during account setup.

I can find NO way to set the currency to use for the savings account.

Is there a way to do this with the latest version of Quicken?

That post by @YingDave that you referenced is about Quicken Canada, not Quicken Classic US. While the US version does have some foreign currency options in R61.20 (which I am running) it does not include the Thai currency. So, you might need to purchase Quicken Canada to get Thai currency support. Perhaps @YingDave or @Arctic Hare would care to provide additional comment about this?

If a foreign currency does not exist in the Currency List (available from the Tools Menu), you can always add it yourself.
Go into the Currency List, look for the currency entry Thai Baht (or similar).
If it doesn't exist, select New and fill out the form's first four fields as shown:

The Shortcut Letter (I suggest B or T) comes in handy when recording new Baht transactions in an account register of a different currency, e.g., you made a credit card purchase in Baht on your US$ credit card.

When done adding the new currency click the Update button to download the latest exchange rates (to fill in the last two fields).

FYI: To get foreign currency support in the in the current Quicken Classic US you will need to go to Tools > Preferences > Calendar and currency > check the box for Multicurrency support > OK.

Then go to Tools > Add Account > +Offline tab (the "+" will drop off when you click on that tab) > Savings > click on the Currency to see and select the available foreign currencies. Since downloading from any non-US financial institution directly into Quicken Classic is not supported, you will need to set up the account as a manual Offline Account. And as I'd mentioned earlier, the Thai currency is not supported with Quicken Classic US.

If you purchased the subscription to Quicken Classic less than 30 days ago you can request a full refund for it if you wish. I think you will need to contact Quicken Support by Phone or Chat for assistance on this since you are outside of the US and since the online refund request form is not set up for non-US addresses. They might also be able to assist you in purchasing a subscription for the Canada version if that is what you wish to do. Thank you everyone for chiming in. I created a 'new' currency and noted above. Then created a savings account using it.

Next for me is to see if I can get logged in using a computer to do a manual download. Otherwise, it will be entering transactions by hand.

Sorry to rain on your parade.
Downloading transactions into your Quicken data file is only supported for US banks and brokerages (Canadian version: Canadian and some US banks).
International banks are not supported and are most likely not following the transaction data format required by Quicken.

Yeah, I was afraid that would be the case. Which I also found out about after doing some searches and reading yesterday. Oh well, manual input it is.

QIF importing is still available, though limited in its functionality. Since it knows nothing about currency (it just has "numbers") and the account currency is what determines the currency.

If you need to convert from a format like CSV to you can try my free program, but I will warn you up front, neither it nor Quicken are very good at handling foreign characters.

QuicknPerlWiz - Use ImportQIF to import transactions into Quicken

Note that Web Connect/QFX importing is out because you are talking about a foreign currency, and Quicken Windows US only allows this kind of import for USD. From what I understand, but having tested, Quicken Windows Canadian does allow for importing QFX files with currencies other than USD/CAD, but I have never tested that.
