Quicken Classic Business & Personal > Window > Products & Services > + ... No CA$ Option

Apparently the Windows edition of QC B&P allows currency selection when creating a new Product/Service but not the Mac edition? Strange since Client Invoices can be in USD or CAD…
Is this feature overlooked in the Mac edition?

Hello @bimmer4me,
Thank you for sharing your experience. Based on the information available in our help article (linked below), it appears to support USD only currently.
There is currently an Idea requesting support for Canadian currency be added for more parts of Business & Personal.
I hope this helps!

@Quicken Kristina, Hello. and, thank you, for your post. However, @bimmer4me and I, as well as others, are raising issue with the Mac version of Quicken Classic Business & Personal, whereby it should be expected to have Canadian-tailored functionality for a product that is tailored to Canadian users. As per @Quicken Anja in early January, I had opened an "idea", and she had done the very same, whereas to advise @Dueterium and @JamesX714 that one was open with this very issue.
So I did. Since then it has received 9 votes, comments, and queries from them both, and also from @mediccaron , @gamecier , @Chris_QPW , @dpmccurdy , @scottdagostino , @arline , and @sjt . As this is a Canadian market-tailored, I can assure you that there will be comments and queries from more users.
The "idea" has received votes, and also, I have asked with decent and fair frequency, ramping up my following up for an answer, yet to no avail. I must convey that it is unsatisfactory to not receive an update on this very "idea" (issue), which was filed over a quarter of a year ago. It is frustrating to find I am paying annual membership fees for software sold to Canadian business owners, who aren't able to use the software due to programming syntax, or incapabilites, or oversight.
I hope that you understand the frustration, and that you are human, and that this may initiate a response for action or anything involving this issue.
Thanks.

Attention Quicken for Mac (Canada) Classic Business & Personal: If you want this to happen, make Quicken listen by heading to the "idea" and voting on it. As at 8 April 2025, there are 9 votes. Link Below:

@James Tuttle Your expectation is understandable, but it's just not how not how the Idea topics and product development work. First, Ideas must hit a certain threshold of votes before they are passed on to the developers for consideration. Typically for Quicken Mac ideas, that threshold is 30 votes; I think for Canadian-specific features, they may have a lower threshold of 20 votes, but I'm not certain of that. Once an Idea topic hits its threshold, it is passed to the developers and the status is updated to "Under Consideration". The developers periodically review these new Idea topics, decide if they have merit, and investigate what amount of work is needed to implement them. Then they look for a time slot in the future on their development roadmap to schedule that work. Once the Idea is on their schedule, it is changed to a status of "Planned". That process typically takes months, and often years. And even once marked as "Planned", it may take 6, 12, 18 or more months to come out in a product update.
So what I'm saying is simply: this is a slow process! One we all wish could be faster. But the Quicken Mac development team is quite small, and they can only crank out a limited number of new features and fixes in each roughly bi-monthly update. There are Ideas which were created on this forum 8 years ago which are still waiting for implementation! And a bunch marked as "Planned" more than a year ago which still haven't come to life.
Sometimes, users waiting for a feature are pleasantly surprised that it was already on the developers' roadmap, and it surfaces sooner than expected. Recently, someone posted an Idea request and the very next day, a product update was released which contained that feature — a world record in going from new Idea to implemented feature! 😂 (Of course, it was something the developers had planned months earlier and just coincidentally arrived the day after someone posted about it.) So it's possible that adding functionality for Canadian users is already in the developers plans.
And yes, there are a fair number of "Ideas" which one could classify as "oversights" or missing features. But whether labeled as a bug, an omission, or an enhancement, each feature needs to be designed, coded, and tested, so they're all competing for the development team's time. What's (understandably) critical to you is of zero use to me, and something that's at the top of my wishlist might be of no interest to you. So the product managers are constantly re-evaluating which items on the extensive wishlist are most needed or most impactful or fit best into the developers' schedules. Whatever they decide to work on, each new release is guaranteed to leave some users happy and many users unhappy that their top request hasn't yet been acted on.
