Funds in a 401k account change names - how to reconcile

Member ✭✭✭✭

Hello

Every so often, my 401k provider, Vanguard, changes the name of the funds for some unknown but annoying reason. So what was called the "Pimpco Total Return" is now called "PTRAC" or something else.

So, after the download of transactions, I will be told that X shares of Pimpco Total return exist but none are in the account, and that X shares of PTRAC were reported but they are not in the account holdings.

How do I reconcile/point/rename/whatever it's called to tell Q that Pimpco Total Return is now PTRAC? Do I have to remove and add the shares, which is very tedious since this happens often?

Thank you

    Hello @Nalgas,

Thank you for letting us know you're encountering this problem. Have you tried editing the security in your Security List to resolve the issue? You can edit a security by following these instructions from this article on managing securities:

    1. Navigate to Tools>Security List.
    2. Click the name of the security you want to edit.
    3. Click the Edit Details button in the Security Details section.
    4. Use the dialog to edit the security information.
    5. When editing a security, you may not see all the fields listed below (this depends on the type of security you're editing).

Please let me know how it goes!
