I think this happend a month ago or so.

Quicken seems to be a day behind in updating the prices of my American Funds mutal funds.

I noticed it first because the Day Gain/Loss for the current day was always 0.

Is there an option that changed, did I do something or what happend?

Version R62.16

Build 27.1.62.16

Thanks

Mutual fund prices to not update until about 7:30pm Eastern time and only on days the market is open

So you may have to wait a while before you will see today's changed.

Also sometimes you must set the As of date back one day then back to today to force the calculation to update.

Does that fix it for you?

While most MFs do update their pricing by about that time, there are some MFs that will not update their pricing until hours later. This happens most frequently with some International, REIT and other alternative investments MFs because it takes longer for the MF company to get daily price updates for some of the securities in those MFs. They can only close on the new MF price after they have received all of the day's financial updates.

Fidelity Investments update their fund quotes at about 6pm ET. I don't know about other fund companies.

BUT, if you try to update Q before the fund companies have done their job … you're going to get the prior business day's numbers. ENTIRELY dependent upon the fund companies.

So I just tried the update again at 8:35 central. Still no change. I did change the date on the portfolio to Friday, which showed Daily Gain/Loss changes and then back to today. Still no change.

It seems strange that it worked normally unitl a month or 2 ago.

Seems like something at AF might have changed regarding when the affected MFs are ready for downloading. Maybe they changed the composition of those MFs so now there are securities in them that report their daily numbers later in the day. I used to have a couple of Fidelity MFs that would not update until 10 or 11 p.m. (Central). I had another MF when I still have an account at E-Trade that would sometimes not update the price until after midnight.

If you don't want to try downloading later tonight and see what downloads you can try doing OSU in the morning. Then change the date back to today to see if the MF price did get updated today or if it actually now does not update until the day after.

Whatever the case is, there is nothing you can do to change it. It's all in the control of the MF company.

I had a related issue a few months back with the mobile version and desktop classic pricing not being in sync. Appears to be related to "Real-time quotes" option under "Preferences, Investments". Unchecking that option seems to have fixed the one day pricing lag issue.

It is important to differentiate between the timing of price updates and the price recorded in Quicken for each date. The issues discussed here might be caused by either a delayed update or by an update that incorrectly enters the previous day's price for the next date. If there is no price recorded for a date, Quicken uses the most recent previous price.

To further complicate matters, the price updates can come from multiple sources. If Quicken receives quotes for a security from more than one source, there is a hierarchy that determines which price it stores for a day.
    See this reference  https://www.quicken.com/support/how-update-security-prices/

You can see the prices that are recorded for each security by selecting the security in the Security List to open the Security Detail view. Click on More then Edit price history to see what is recorded.

@rdv When does American Funds update the quotes on their own website?
