Connection to BNY Pershing (macOS, Quicken V 8.1.2)

My BNY Pershing accounts were showing incorrect balances. I was instructed by Quicken telephone support to delete the account and re-add. I did so. Now, I when attempting to re-add the account, it will not connect. My investment account is through Retirement Planners of America (RPOA) which uses BNY Pershing as the holding accounts.

    Hello @Dane S,

Thank you for letting us know you're encountering an issue. To help troubleshoot, I checked on our end, and it looks like you're getting a FDP-103 (invalid credentials) error when you're trying to connect to BNY Mellon 401k Savings Plan, BNY for former MEL - 3804, and BNY for former MEL - 3801.

The first troubleshooting step is to confirm you're using the correct connection option. There are several options for BNY in Quicken Classic for Mac.

To help determine which one you should be using, please provide the exact URL (web address) that you use when logging into your account directly through the financial institution website.

I look forward to your reply!

    Thank you for your reply,

When I check the listing of supported financial institutions, it doesn't show any connections with that URL. You mentioned that the accounts were previously connected in your Quicken. Do you recall which connection option you were originally using?

If you're not able to remember, you should be able to restore a backup from before the problem started, then select the account you want to check, navigate to Accounts>Settings, then look at the Downloads tab. The connection option will show as the Financial Institution.

These are the choices for BNY…all report errors when attempted.

According to my investment consultant, the Windows version has different institutions available.

    Thank you for your reply,

Quicken for Windows does show a couple connection options that are different from Quicken for Mac.

    Screenshot 2025-05-02 at 12.46.02 PM.png

That said, when I check the list of supported financial institutions, Quicken for Windows doesn't show any connection options that use the URL you provided.

Which connection option were you using previously, when the connection was working? Are you currently seeing invalid credentials errors with all the connection options? If not, what other error messages/codes are you seeing?

    Thank you!

The url was investor.pershing.com, The credentials are correct. I logged in to the account and it redirected me to Retirement Planners of America (RPOA), which is where the account is "homed".

I restored from a backup. The accounts can connect but the balances are wrong.

    Settings on the account are…

    Thank you for your reply,

I'm glad to hear restoring from the backup got the accounts reconnected under BNY Pershing.

How are the balances incorrect? For example, are the balances "correct", but outdated? Are they showing $0 instead of an amount?

Since this is a Direct Connect connection, there is a strong possibility that the issue is caused by a change on the financial institution's end. Have you contacted them about this issue?

    Thank you!

The balance show in the transaction detail window matches the account balance. The balance in the sidebar is wrong. I don’t understand why the two would differ from one another..

    Thank you for your reply,

Do you have your account sidebar set to show Today's Balance?

    Screenshot 2025-05-04 at 12.43.19 PM.png

If it's set to show the Projected Balance or the show the Online Balance, that could cause the numbers to be different.

    Thank you!

    Thank you for your reply,

If you haven't already done so, I recommend checking for any placeholders or adjustments that may be causing the difference. Since the screenshots indicate its using Simple tracking, you should be able to check by going to the Dashboard, clicking on a security, then selecting Security Detail. If there are placeholders or adjustments, you should be able to see them in the Transaction History section of the detail.
