Wrong "Prior Ending Statement Date"

Quicken continuing to show an incorrect "Prior Ending Statement Date" when reconciling (and there is no way to fix it). Have seen this reported earlier, with no solutions. (Yes, I have reported the problem.)

Validating file didn't fix the problem (but I'm worried about what it did do…)

    Hello @operaflute,

We appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention!

First, could you please provide the following details?

    • Where is your Quicken data file stored? Is it on your local hard drive (C: Drive) or a cloud-based/external drive (e.g.: OneDrive, DropBox, USB, etc.)?
    • When did this issue first start occurring?
    • Were there any significant changes to your system or software before the issue began (updates, new installations, etc.)?
    • Could you provide a screenshot of what you are seeing? If needed, please refer to this Community FAQ for instructions on how to attach a screenshot. Alternatively, you can also drag and drop screenshots to your response if you are not given the option to add attachments.

Check back and let us know!

I didn't receive any solutions for this or the other problems I'm having. I cancelled my subscription, as it was set to renew this week.

You also didn't respond to @Quicken Anja's questions that might have led to a resolution of your issue.

I responded several times, but only got messages that my posts would appear after approval. (Didn't expect my last one to appear, honestly!)

This feature should work, whether or not I download transactions automatically, so I will answer the initial questions again and hope my post appears this time. (Maybe it was the screen shot?)

    Quicken data is stored locally
Problem (I believe) has been ongoing 1-3 months. (Busy season meant I couldn't reconcile each month.)
    No system changes.
I'm not yet attaching the requested screen shot - perhaps that's why my first two responses didn't appear. But it would add no real new info. At the top of the "Reconcile Details" menu, there is "The Prior Ending Statement Date" that Quicken automatically populates with a date. It's now populating with the *wrong* date and there's no ability to change or correct it. I will try screen shot again on request, but I keep trying to post the answers to the @Quicken Anja's questions and my answers never appear.

    Hello @operaflute,

Thank you for checking in, and I’m sorry your earlier responses didn’t go through—Community’s spam filter can occasionally flag posts with images or certain formatting, but I appreciate you sticking with it.

It sounds like the “Prior Ending Statement Date” issue has been especially frustrating, and I agree—this feature should work reliably whether or not you download transactions automatically.

To help us investigate further, I’ll go ahead and send you a private message. You can try replying to that message with your screenshots to see if they come through more easily via DM.

Please navigate to the inbox in the top right-hand corner of the Community page and check your inbox.

I thought this issue was creating my reconcile problems. Turns out that, while the dates are indeed wrong, there's another discrepancy in the reconcile window that is creating the issue. The list of items in the reconcile window does not match the register. In other words, the reconcile either omits items that are clearly in the register during the date range (and not already marked as reconciled), or it doubles them up. My "difference," which should be zero, is equal to this discrepancy. This problem is probably worth a separate search and thread (unless the problem is answered elsewhere.) This has been an unholy mess for months, but now I at least see the source of a problem!
