Any reason why REFERENCE field is not Editable? (Q Mac)

Any reason why REFERENCE field is not Editable?. I can add the REFERENCE column but can not write/edit its contents. Using Quicken Classic Deluxe Version 8.2.0 (build 802.57256.100) macOS 15.4.1

I think Reference is one of the fields that's reserved for use by your financial institution, like FITID. The only transactions I have that use it are for one of my American Express cards, and even there it hasn't been consistently used.

@Ismael @rogersda If you look in Quicken Mac Help, it clearly states that the Reference field is not editable:

Whatever information you'd want to enter into the Reference field, you should consider using other fields such as Memo/Notes or possibly Action.

When I check on the ticket from last year, the team determined that the reference column was working as intended, and it was the Help article that needed correction. As @jacobs posted above, the Help article currently shows that the Reference column is not editable.

If you would like to see the functionality of that column changed, I recommend creating an Idea post to request that change. Ideas that get enough votes may be implemented in the future. For information on creating an Idea post, please see this post:
