Quicken web for two PCs

I set up the Web system to alternate between a desktop and laptop that are 200 miles apart. I made sure all the data was up to date on the laptop and then synced it. I saw lots of spinning, with alternating Up- and Down-arrows, and got a message the Sync was successful. When I returned to the desktop, I opened Quicken (Classic Deluxe) and immediately synced, expecting the open file to include all the updates that had been added on the laptop. It did not!! None of the recent updates were reflected. What went wrong?

Yes, the only safe way to transfer data between two separate desktop versions of Quicken is by creating a backup in one and then restoring it in the other. This ensures your data remains intact, consistent, and free of file damage or corruption.
The Quicken Cloud is designed only to sync data between your desktop software and Quicken’s companion mobile and web apps—it doesn’t support transferring data between desktop programs.

And, yes, the same 16 accounts are selected on both PC's.

Hello @jvhines,
Thanks for reaching out!
To clarify—after you synced to the Web, did you then try accessing the updated data on your desktop by opening Quicken on the Web via quicken.com, or directly through the Quicken Desktop program?
Just to make sure we’re on the same page: the cloud sync in Quicken is designed to share data between the Quicken Desktop file and the companion apps—meaning Quicken on the Web and the Quicken Mobile app. It doesn’t transfer changes between separate desktop installations, so syncing on one computer won’t automatically update the data file on another computer. Each desktop installation uses its own file locally.
Looking forward to your response!

Thanks for your prompt response.
I'm using Quicken desktop on both PCs. I thought the entire purpose was to allow multiple devices to share what was on the Web. If it can't do that, it has zero value to me. Does that mean the only way to keep both machines at the point is save a backup from one and restore it on the other every time I change location? I thought that was the main purpose for using the Web version. Or do I need to change the setup in some way?
