Reports No Longer Save without all Cents

Since the latest update R63.19 Reports only appear with cents. I can no longer save budget reports to round to nearest dollar. Very frustrating as the pennies in many categories is much too cluttered. Is the simple fix in the works?

Figured it out. Have to change the default setting in Preferences/Reports

The problem with using the the default hide cents is that it overrides customization to include it on the income expense comparison report as one example, Net Worth Report for another. Version R63.20 update

@Richard Schreyer for the two report examples you gave, you can go into the "Display" tab in the report customization screen and show cents by selecting that option. The only thing that the global "Hide cents in reports by default" does is makes "Hide cents" the default for all new reports. And again, you can choose to show cents in individual reports by selecting that option in report customization.

    It doesn't save the customization

@Richard Schreyer I just tried it on several reports existing and new and it works for me. Not sure why it's not working for you. When you change the option in report customization and click "OK", are you also saving the report before you close out of it?

Thanks. It appears the issue was that my default preference in reports for no cents was changed during the last version update. I set the preference for “no cents” and reports work fine.

@Richard Schreyer I totally agree with you now. I did some additional testing and there seems to be a bug when the global option "Hide Cents by default" is checked. When that option is checked, some reports will not show cents even if "Show Cents" is selected for the report.

What happens is that when you select to "show cents" in a particular report, but the global is set to not show cents by default, whenever the report is refreshed, it will revert to not show cents.

I don't think it should work this way. The selection at the report level to show cents should override the "don't show cents" at the global level.

The only way to get around this issue is to never use "don't show cents by default" global option.

The most frustrating issue for me is that this seems to be caused by version updates. When I discover the issue, the quicken reps have no idea and usually assume its a user issue or file issue. I don't know why the new versions sometimes impact things that were working fine. My next step was going to be to reload the prior version until another fix was offered. Not sure why I seemed to be the only one noticing the issue. Maybe most users use cents, which to me is much to cluttered.

@CMRater sometimes it's not easy to discuss an issue with a customer service rep that has never used the program. They have a script and are lost without it.

The issue with the "show cents" report option is that the global option overrides the individual report option in some, if not all reports. This makes the global option not usable, unless you want all reports not to show cents, without any option to change it for individual reports.

Hopefully the developers are listening and will fix what apparently to me was caused by R63.20. I am surprised how long it takes some of these simple fixes to be addressed. I and others went through a 1-2 year nightmare a year or so ago waiting for them to fix a memory allocation problem causing havoc with budgeting. Part of the problem is that unfortunately some of these issues only appear on some user computers which decreases the prioritization of these issues. The memory allocation issue was not solved until one of our fellow users took the matter directly to the Quicken CEO, Eric Dunn via linked in. All of a sudden the matter was resolved post haste. I’ve been an avid Quicken user since 1992. As issues go, the cents rounding problem is more on the nuisance side of the spectrum. Fortunately, until a fix is available, messing with the default global preferences does the trick for me in the meantime 🙂
