Q for Mac - Investment portfolio previously showing stock positions disappeared. only total showing
I previously manually updated this account with transactions and today I elected to use quick connect to my brokerage acct. While the transactions that I had previously recorded are available to view, the portfolio stock positions have disappeared and only a total value appears. Where did my portfolio of stocks go?

Hello @S. Gordon Harwood,
Thanks for reaching out!
To help narrow this down, a couple of things come to mind:
- What is the “Holdings” view showing for that account?
- If you open the account register and click the Holdings button in the toolbar, do you see your positions listed there, or is that also just showing a total?
- Can you confirm which brokerage you connected to via Quicken Connect?
- Some brokerages send position data while others don’t. If your brokerage only sends account balances and transactions but not holdings, that could explain why Quicken is now relying solely on the downloaded data and ignoring your previously manually-entered shares.
- Did you notice any placeholders added when the account synced?
- If placeholders were generated during the connection process, they may be masking or removing previously-entered shares. You can check this by going to the register, sorting by date, and scanning for any entries labeled as “Placeholder.”
If none of that lines up with what you’re seeing, I’d be happy to dig further — just let me know what you find in those views above.

when I click the holdings tab (portfolio or dashboard), no positions by stock appear, . Only a total cash value appears

The brokerage is Scotia ITrade.
As far as positions are concerned, I noticed that all of the positions were removed with transaction type "Remove Shares". These entries however are not labeled "Placeholder"
If I was to delete these transactions that removed the shares, would they then reappear?

I ended up reversing all of the "Remove Shares" by adding them back again. The portfolio is now showing correctly.
