Venmo timeouts

I have Venmo connected for downloads. This normally entails Quicken sending the request and Venmo responding with a prompt for a verification code. Once the text is received, you can enter the code, and then the download will complete. Usually, the whole process is painless.

Beginning around June 25, 2025, Venmo began taking a long time to present the box to enter the code (which came immediately in text). Once entered, it timed out waiting for Venmo to finish verifying it. That necessitates a second or third attempt.

It seems to be an issue on Venmo's side.

Has anyone else seen this?

    Upon further review, I can see that you are receiving an FDP-185 error internally with your Venmo account(s).

    An FDP-185 error usually appears because your financial institution has added a new security feature that requires your attention before your account can be updated. This could be a new verification step that needs to be completed on the financial institution's website. Below are some instructions you can follow in an attempt to resolve this issue. You can find these instructions and more information in this Support Article.

    Visit your financial institution's website

    1. Sign in to your financial institution's website.
    2. Navigate to the page where you view your account information.
    3. When you encounter the new web page that requires your response, fill out the requested information and dismiss the screen. If you have the option to not display the page or ask you again, select that option. If you do not, the error may continue to occur.

    Note: Some financial institution websites may have this new security requirement located in your inbox or message center.

    Thanks. The security feature isn't new in this case (the prompt for 6-digit code). Rather, what was already in place was timing out for a few days. It was probably due to server maintenance. As of this writing, it seems to be back to normal.
