Fields in downloaded transactions are incorrectly matched in Quicken

When downloading transactions from RBC, Quicken populates the Memo field with the information that should be in the Payee field.

For example downloading a payment to "Enbridge Gas", the memo field will have "Enbridge Gas" while the Payee field shows "Payment".

Renaming rules don't help, because they only work on the Payee field.

This requires a manual correction for every item.

Is there a solution?

Thanks for reaching out to share this issue!

To better assist you, could you please provide the following details?

    • Have you attempted any troubleshooting steps so far? If so, what were they?
    • When did this issue first start occurring?
    • Were there any significant changes to your system or software before the issue began (such as updates or new installations)?
    • Also, what exactly shows up in the Payee field when this happens?

What method are you using to download transaction date from RBC? Express Web Connect (i.e. One Step Update) or Web Connect?

For downloaded transactions, Renaming Rules are supposed to look at both the Payee and the Memo.

Have you tried creating a Renaming Rule for Enbridge Gas that just says If Payee contains Enbridge Gas? Note the Rules look for whole words, so if the Memo is actually Enbridge Gas1234, you would have to look for that.

@KDP7101 would it be possible to use a Memorized Payee to change the payee name?

I haven't tested this so I am not positive it would work. But I think by using the right criteria it might.
