Target Bank Wasn't Downloading Red Card Transactions since June 2025 Solved

Apparently the Target Red card is now the Target Circle card and something broke when trying to download transactions. I even tried downloading the QFX file from the bank website and Quicken gave me some error that sounded like the bank wasn't recognized when I tried to import it. So I tried resetting the account in Quicken which went into some sort of second form of verification loop. When all that stopped, it still didn't download any transactions. So I deactivated the account for downloads and waiting a day then connected again using the dropdown menu in the upper right corner of the Target transaction window selecting Update Now. This went through the complete set up of the account again and I noticed it was calling itself a Circle card instead of a Red card. Now it downloads correctly again.

Hope this helps someone else.

    Hello @Tim_M,

    We appreciate you sharing this!

Glad to hear reactivating it under the new Target Circle name worked. This will definitely help others running into the same issue.

    Thank you!

I'm a bit confused. There's no Financial Institution other than:

    Target National Bank

This was the FI when Target called it "red master card" or "redcard" and is still the same FI now that Target calls the card "Target Circle card". So I'm not sure where the name of the card comes into play with the Financial Institution List that is in Quicken?

Now, what is possible, IMO, is that the FI remained the same, but due to something on Target's end, it may have only required a deactivate/reactivate cycle to re-link rather than Account Reset.

It would be helpful if Quicken would provide a step-by-step procedure to fix this problem. It has been painful to manually enter my Target transactions since May/June sometime.

Strange, but my pending transactions download, but finalized transactions do not.

I do not see the Update Now button noted at the top right of the Target transaction window noted by user above. Again, it would be helpful to have a full procedure.

    Thank you,

I'm in the same boat, the download appears to complete successfully (asks where to send 6-digit code, accepts code input, exits without displaying any errors), but not getting any transactions since late June/early July.

My account shows "Target Guest Card" as the financial institution. Should I change this to "Target National Bank" or something else (I don't see a "Target Circle Card")?

still not working for me after resetting. After some trial and error, appears that it will only pull transactions AFTER the next billing cycle starts, won't pull transactions during the current billing cycle. Makes no sense, none of my other accounts act this way. And as mentioned in previous comments, I didn't see any other option except the Target National Bank (except for guest card, CU and Visa gift card).

    It's really Not Solved

I want to Target to download the QFX file as I have since April. Instead of opening up a Notepad file, it opened an APPLICATION File. Opening that Application file updated my entire Quicken Program. After the Update, Quicken now uses the Target Circle homepage mytargetcirclecard.target.com but still does not download transactions.

Toward the top of the file, there are 3 lines that say"Null". They are <ORG>, <FID>, and <INTU.BID>

    <ORG>TargetNational Bank
    <FID>03820
    </FI>
    <INTU.BID>03820

**** What QUICKEN NEEDS TO DO ON THEIR END is Add TargetCircle to the Add Account menu* This is on the Quicken Side

Any update on this? I am having the same issue. No transactions downloaded since July 19 even though connection and MFA work. I tried Target National Bank (which I've always used) and Target Guest Card. Both allowed connection but no new transactions downloaded.

Waiting for resolution. On Quicken Simplifi web. Seems like current, finalized statement transactions are not pulled in. Only pending show up. Makes no sense.

Thank you for coming to the Community to let us know you're impacted by this issue. However, this is the Quicken Classic Community. I can see that you use Quicken Simplifi. I recommend posting to the Quicken Simplifi Community, since the information and guidance on that Community will be more helpful than the information here. The Target Circle Card website FAQs states that updates to financial planning software must now be done manually. Refer to this screenshot of the text.

I hope that this can be resolved to restore downloads. I think I will cancel the card if not

I haven't been able to download for months. It's tedious inputting each transaction manually. I've stopped shopping at Target so that only my two subscriptions that are auto paid need to be input. Tried the manual QFX file download and it says it can't verify the bank although it clearly says Target National Bank… Never known Quicken to take this long to resolve an issue like this or at least let us know that they've done everything they can and it's up to the bank / vendor. When this happened with Citi a few years ago, they even gave us a sample email to send to Citi's problem desk - enough of us wrote that Citi jumped on it and communicated with Quicken to fix it.

Sigh, I've been part of the Target redcard problems thread for months (since their website update). Following the suggestions, here, I've tried to disconnect/reconnect to Target National Bank. But all I get is CC-501.

I changed my password to use only * and ? for the required special characters, but no joy.

When I try to simport a QFX instead, I get this error:

Same issues as everyone, Target Circle card hasn't connected in quite a while, many attempts to reconnect and all fail. Read FAQ on Targets site about aggregators not supported anymore, but not sure Quicken an "aggregator". What I do know is it's insanely frustrating and the only of my accounts that's unable to auto-download…and a disincentive to spend money at Target.

Decided to try the Target Guest Card for my setup and it reconnected to the Target Account, correctly showing my current balance. However, it still did not download any transactions.

Interestingly, last month it did not download any transactions until the Statement closed. I will try again in a few days after the Statement closes to see if it makes a difference, but at least the relationship has been reinstated.

Using Target Guest Card seemed to work, but it never completes the update at all including the balance.

    Update on Target.

During routine Account Update, the new Target Guest Card failed with a different error from prior Target National Bank error.

I went back to Target National Bank and it recognized my account!! Still did not download any transactions but will continue to monitor post statement closing.

Updated Target tonight, 8/28. Statement closed 8/27. ALL transactions downloaded and matched my register. That's 2 month's in a row where the transactions only downloaded after the statement closed. So other than the mid-month hiccup of not recognizing the account login and jumping to the Guest Card and now back to Target National Bank, this could be what to expect going forward.

@jxwinks Thanks for sharing, I just tested and this was my experience as well - downloading transactions after the statement has closed and only those as of the end of the statement, not after. This should work for me, though not ideal, and still annoying that it prompts for 2FA every time.
