If I restore a backup file and then update by downloading transactions from the bank, will I get all
I apologize if I'm in the wrong category.
Windows 11 Pro, Quicken Classic all up to date. I recently moved to a new computer by installing Quicken first, then Export the current data file from my old system, then imported to my new system. It seemed to work OK. After a month or so, I found out my Bills and Income entries were messed up which then caused massive headaches. I have no idea what happened here so I br;ieve I need to go back to an older backup file and start from there. I have all my backups on a removable drive that go back over 10 years, but I have never had to restore a backup before, so I am in new territory here.
My question is after I do this restore, there will be about 3 weeks of data that have transacted since then. If I just do a banking transaction download, will I get all the data or will I need to enter some myself? In other words, will I be up to date with the bank at this point?

Yes, it is possible to download the past three weeks of transactions from your bank into Quicken after restoring a three-week-old data file, but there's a limit to the length of transaction history downloadable directly from financial institutions. Banks typically limit direct transaction downloads into Quicken to the last 30 to 90 days. Since your restore point is three weeks old, the last three weeks of transactions are within this typical download range.
- Automatic Download: When you update your account in Quicken, it's designed to download the most recent transactions from the bank. However, it "remembers" previously downloaded transactions and won't re-download them to avoid duplicates. In your case, since the restored file is three weeks old, those three weeks of transactions wouldn't have been downloaded into that specific restored file, so they should be downloaded fresh.
If for some reason the automatic download doesn't capture the entire three weeks, you can manually download transactions using the Web Connect method. You'll need to log into your bank's website, download a QFX file containing the desired transactions, and then import it into Quicken. Note that some banks only allow Web Connect downloads after the statement closes.

I have a similar problem - but also with every download it does not download and asks me to fix the problem at each bank! It may have to do with a backed uo file, as I do that almost every time

Hello @Bill40,
Thank you for sharing your experience. When restoring a backup file, there is always a chance that the financial institutions will want you to reauthorize/reconnect your accounts in Quicken.
What specific error message/code do you see? Does this happen only after restoring a backup? Once you reconnect the accounts, do they stay connected?
I look forward to your response!
