How is QuickFill supposed to function? (Q Mac)

Using Quicken Classic (Mac) 8.2.1

When transactions are downloaded - say, from my Credit Card - and the vendor is Amazon, I have set up a rule to have it placed in the "Amazon" category. I would imagine then, that every charge to Amazon would automatically be classified by the software as "Amazon". However, I have to edit each transaction manually to set it to that category. I do have the box checked under "settings" but that hasn't made a difference. I am either not using it correctly or the QuickFill is not Quick, nor is it filling. Thanks.

    Hello @KH22,

Thank you for sharing your experience. For information on how QuickFill is supposed to work, please review this help article: https://info.quicken.com/mac/adding-quickfill-rules

To help troubleshoot the issue you're describing, please provide more information on what is happening, or failing to happen. How is the QuickFill rule set up? The Payee does need to match exactly; are you using a renaming rule to standardize the Payee if it downloads slightly differently each time?

    I hope this helps!

@KH22 This statement is likely the key. You need a Renaming Rule: if Statement Payee name contains "Amazon", set Payee name to "Amazon". This insures all your Amazon downloads will normalize the Payee name to just "Amazon"; then your QuickFill rule for Payee=Amazon should work correctly for all such transactions.

I have tried creating the rule every way that is described and I understand that the Payee must matching exactly, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. When I download transactions from my credit card, if the payee is Amazon, I have the Quick Fill rule set to the category Amazon, however, the QuickFill doesn't populate it. I must be doing something incorrectly or don't understand QuickFill. Any additional help?
