How to remove bank startup logo

When I start Quicken a Wells Fargo logo shows up why is that and how do I get rid of it?

  • @bxsnipe how long has that splash screen been around? If you recently set up a Wells Fargo account, that would explain why it's showing now. The splash screen reverts back to the generic one when the Quicken program is reinstalled. It also can revert back when an update is installed.

    Hello @bxsnipe,

    We appreciate you reaching out!

The Wells Fargo logo appears at startup when you have a Wells Fargo account connected in Quicken using the Direct Connect connection method. This is expected behavior since Direct Connect uses the bank’s own servers to establish the connection.

If you disconnect the account (or switch it to a different connection method), the Wells Fargo splash screen will no longer appear at startup.

Hope this clarifies things for you! If you’re not sure which connection method you're currently using, let me know, and I can walk you through how to check.

  • @Quicken Anja that is not entirely correct. I have several Wells Fargo accounts using Direct Connect and I have the generic splash screen not the Wells Fargo one. The Wells Fargo Splash screen is replaced by the generic one when the Quicken is reinstalled or updated.

The only way I can get the Wells Fargo splash screen back again is to deactivate and reactivate my Wells Fargo accounts using Direct Connect. But then again, it is replaced by the generic splash screen when the Quicken program is reinstalled or updated.

@CaliQkn Thanks for adding that context—you’re absolutely right. The Wells Fargo splash screen typically shows up if you have a Wells Fargo account using Direct Connect, but it can revert back to the generic Quicken splash screen after a program reinstall or update.

So essentially, the splash screen behavior depends on both the connection method and recent updates or reinstallations. Thanks for helping clarify this!

    See this thread:

I don't know if it still applies/works with subscription Quicken (2018+), but you can try it. You will probably have to change the edition directory (Deluxe, Premier, etc) for your installation. I remember one user using a .PNG file with a image size of 1 pixel x 1 pixel (just a dot).

Thank you for the follow-up @bxsnipe,

If you haven't already done so, please try the following:

    1. Backup your Quicken file.
    2. Navigate to Tools>Add Account and reconnect your Wells Fargo accounts (using Direct Connect or Express Web Connect+, depending on which method you prefer)
    3. Uninstall Quicken.
    4. Reinstall Quicken.
    5. Restart your computer.
    6. Open Quicken.

Test to see if that sets the start up banner back to the generic Quicken banner.

Please let me know how it goes!
