Please Delete My User ID

Please delete my user ID for this Quicken Community forum (Caliqkn). I have requested that my Quicken ID and associated personal and financial information be deleted through CCPA. I wasn’t sure if that request would also include my user ID for this website so I am making this separate request.

Thank you.

    Hello @CaliQkn,

Thank you for reaching out. Do you want all your posts to the Community to be deleted, or just your user ID and profile?

    Please let me know!

Make sure to sign up for the email digest to see a round up of your top posts.

  • @Quicken Kristina if you can delete all my posts, along with my user ID and profile, that would be great.

Also, If you can also delete two other user IDs, profiles and posts, that would be even better. It seems like the Quicken IDs have been deleted, but but the user IDs, profiles and posts still linger here in this forum. They all belong to me.

To summarize, please delete the following user IDs, profile and posts for -

    CaliQkn

    QWinUser

    QuickUserPSP

(Unexplainable and unfixable errors and issues seem to happen to my data files every time I participate in this forum or Beta. I am not sure why. That is why I said in my other post, enough is enough. Safeguarding my personal and financial information is if the upmost importance to me.)

    Thank you.

  • @Quicken Kristina just to be clear, I would like to have all of my posts and comments deleted from all three user IDs.

Also please let me know when this is done or will be done.

    Thank you.

@CaliQkn Many of your posts were very helpful; I hope you will reconsider about having them all deleted.

Other users who have left the forum now just show with a name of Deleted User or something similar, with their contributions still visible.

I can understand how Beta versions of Quicken or experiments to debug problems might corrupt your data files, but it seems very unlikely that posts here would have any effect on your data files.

All I can say is that it is a mistake to have your Quicken ID attached to a user ID in this forum. It is not about the posts themselves. It is not an issue with the data file. It is an issue with the Quicken ID.

I may be wrong, but there are too many coincidences that have happened to me each time I rejoin this forum with a user ID attached to my Quicken ID. Each time I give this forum another chance, things start happening with the exact same unexplainable and unfixable issues and errors. The only way to fix the issues and errors is to start over with a new Quicken ID. Again, enough is enough. I cannot keep creating a new Quicken ID and paying for a new subscription to be able to access and use my data file. Again, this only happens after I start participating in this forum. I have contacted Quicken about this and no one is able to explain what is going on, or is able to fix the issues and errors. I found out myself that all the issues were due to something with my Quicken ID.

@Quicken Kristina again, please let me know when all of my user IDs (CaliQkn, QWinUser, QuickUserPSP), profiles, posts and comments have been deleted. Hopefully Quicken can comply with this request you did offer me. Every other social media platform gives the user the ability to delete their own posts and comments. Even so, with CCPA, I am not sure Quicken would be required to do so.

@CaliQkn , if you are reading this, FWIW about 5-6 years ago I encountered MANY strange issues with my Quicken file that I was convinced it was corrupted but it would manifest itself even in a new data file. To the point I had a daily pre-scheduled calls with hi-level support (they called me every day). After a week they determined that the issue was my ID but couldn't explain further. To test that theory I simply paid for a new subscription with a new ID and my data files started working normally. I have posted about this here a few times. I know everyone finds this strange but I had 30+ support tickets and all worked fine after the new ID.

This all seems pretty strange to me, but if there is one thing I have learned over all the years of being a software developer it is that "strange" doesn't equal "not possible".

I have looked at code and thought "that shouldn't be possible", but later found out that it was possible, I just hadn't thought of the exact use case.

And as on "outsider" (black box evaluation), I certainly think this is well within the realm of possibilities.

It all started with the Quicken Id, but in really got magnified by the when Quicken Inc "synced" more and more. But especially when Quicken Inc decided to put their servers in between the downloading of transactions and use the "Sync to Mobile/Web" system to do the transfer from Quicken to the Quicken server.

For instance, Restore is dangerous. Let that sink in. The operation that is supposed to "save you" is now prone to causing problems.

Even using a copy as the restore is not 100% safe anymore. This is the main reason I have stopped trying to reproduce a lot of people's problems on here.

And as far as the tie in between the forum and your data file. I can't imagine what could cause it, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out.

But I do want to mention that I have never used the same Quicken Id for my data file and for this forum. There is zero requirement to do that, and I have never been comfortable with them being connected.

You can create a free Quicken Id for the forum that isn't attached to any data file.

One more thing. Quicken Inc can delete your username/Quicken Id from here and then your old posts show up as "unknown user". It seems to me that would break any kind of connection to the Quicken Id(s) without deleting the actual posts.

Couldn't agree more. I used to refer to my backup file frequently (typically rename) but it's been a couple of years that if I do a rename or restore, I am guaranteed to get the CC-800 error! Now if I make a mistake, it is less headache to backtrack and correct it instead of using my backup.

Quicken Inc has setup is "no win" situation.

Restore does a sync with the Quicken Cloud dataset, and at minimum can disrupt the online connections like you said.

Using a copy of your data file and just opening it will not trigger a sync, but now it will depend on how far apart/different the data file and the Quicken Cloud dataset is whether you will have a problem.

Usually, a day or so has no problems, but much farther back and you will probably have disconnect all the online services and reconnect. Or if you are really paranoid (or encounter a lot of problems) the operation is first use another data file with Sync to Mobile/Web on to blow away the Quicken Cloud dataset of the original data file to make sure there is no possible chance that "syncing the out of sync dataset" will affect your data file. And then open the copy.

The way I start Quicken is with a command script. It first makes sure I have the most recent copy of the data file from my source control system and then starts Quicken using it. After I close Quicken it will then check that new copy into source control. Since my source control uses binary diffing it means I have many copies of the data file with very little extra disk space used. But using a script like this (which could be just a copy in and out) has another advantage. If during the session I decide that I don't want to keep the data file changes, I can just close the script and when Quicken ends the data file will not be checked into my source control

I still use this for both my own personal "oops" and for "minor" tests of other people's questions. And I haven't had any problems but note when I say "minor" the first criteria of that is it doesn't touch any online service.

The only online services that I use are downloading of transactions/quotes and sort of X-Ray Portfolio. And 99% of the time it works without any problems, with the 1% causing me to deactivate accounts for downloading and reactivating them, and also usually have to deal with duplicate transactions in the investment accounts for that session or so.

@BK first of all I had no idea that anyone else experienced the same issues that I did. I had so many strange issues that no one could explain. The first time this happened, I was pretty much left on my own and treated rather poorly by some of the moderators here and Quicken Support. I spoke with someone in the Office of the President (aka Customer Support) and then directly to a programmer. Nothing helped. No one could figure out what was happening. Out of desperation, I created a new Quicken ID and purchase a new Quicken Subscription. Still no one was able to give me an explanation.

Coincidently, I had signed on to be a Beta user before all these issues started. When I installed the Beta program, Quicken went haywire. I had Quicken Deluxe, but then after installing Beta, my installation was a mishmash of both Deluxe and Premier. My Quicken Account stated I had Deluxe, but when I went into Quicken it showed Premier. It was impossible to get help because when I contacted the Beta coordinator, she said she couldn't help me and to go to Quicken Support. Then support told me they couldn't help me because it was a Beta issue. I was pretty much left on my own.

So when I started getting certain errors around August 21,2025, (CC-800, CC-503, and CC-929), I knew what that meant. I knew that if I tried to get help for these issues, it would go nowhere, so I created a new Quicken ID and purchased a new Quicken subscription, rather than go through the nightmare I did previously.

@Quicken Kristina please respond and confirm when my user IDs (CaliQkn, QWinUser, QuickUserPSP), posts and comments will be deleted. If I need to work with someone else to get this done, please let me know

  • @Chris_QPW since @Quicken Kristina offered, I want all my posts and comments deleted. It is my "intellectual property". That is the least Quicken can do for me.

@Chris_QPW @BK I appreciate your comments, but at this point any discussion deters from the goal of my post which is to delete my user IDs (CaliQkn, QWinUser, QuickUserPSP), profiles, and associated comments, and posts.

@Quicken Kristina per my original post, I already submitted a request through CCPA to have my Quicken ID and associated personal and financial information deleted. My request to you is to delete the user IDs in this Quicken Community forum.

Maybe when the dust settles with this latest release, I'll ask the Mods to do that for me.
