Why can't we get PE ratio and Industry /Category for ETF's?
Seems when a Industry/Category is missing, you cant add it to Quicken Classic. None of mY ETF's have PE Ratio of Industry/Category. I use the Investing/Portfolio view. It appears this would be an easy fix if you would enable the user to edit the field right from the Investing/Portfolio view The same way the user can update the price in that view.

I just now logged into my account at Fidelity, and researched one of their own ETF's, FBCG.
And they don't show, on their website, the PE and Industry/Category for their own ETF.
SO, I have to conclude that what your asking is simply not possible.

You can get industry and PE data from Yahoo, MS, and Seeking Alpha. If it can't be downloaded, I should be able to add it. It should not be difficult to open the fields for editing.

It isn’t an easy fix. You are misunderstanding where the information on that view comes from. It isn’t a spreadsheet. It is a view into data that comes from other parts of Quicken. And certainly fields only come from downloaded information from their security quotes provider.
There is no place in Quicken where the PE is stored. The industry category seems to be somewhat dependent on what the asset definitions provided the security type is set to mutual fund. This is provided the assets are only the pre-defined ones.
Since there isn’t even a built-in ETF security type clearly Quicken wouldn’t know what to do with it if create a custom security type. My ETFs were set to the security type stock, maybe because that is the closest built-in type (they both trade during the day).

I understand where the data comes from. I am in IT. For a product that has been on the market for this long, this should have been addressed long ago. ETF's are not new. Providing users the ability to update their own data is not new. Downloading and exporting my data to an Excel file to then add the industry and PE ratios to get an accurate picture defeats the purpose of using Quicken and does not provide a good UX. This really should be addressed by their SD team.

If you want the data you type in to persist after the next quote update, your request would be more complicated to implement than you might think. For each security, Quicken would need to add a preference for each editable field so that users can decide whether to use the downloaded data or the user entered data. This is already available for asset allocations and more recently for estimated income.
Also each security's Investing Goal field is already available for user entered data if you are not using it for something else.

@mb51, If Fidelity doesn't provide that info on their own website for their own ETFs, how can you possibly expect them to provide it to Q?
Simply makes no sense.
