Capital Gains report from account register

It would be nice to be able to run a Capital Gains report on an individual stock sale from the account register.

Currently, I have to run a Capital Gains report from the Tax menu and then I have to deselect all the accounts selected, select the appropriate account, go to Securities, deselect all the securities, select the security I want, and then choose the appropriate day in the Date Range.

Seems like it would be very easy to automate this from the register with one click. Reducing from 7 steps to 1 step would be very helpful.

Thanks,

David

I can see where this might be helpful but until and unless it gets enough votes for Quicken to implement this change you might want to consider pulling up the default report, change the Date Range to Daily (or Monthly) and then save the report to My Saved Reports (maybe giving it a unique name for easier recognition in the future).

Once it is saved in My Saved Reports: View > Customize Toolbar > Add or Remove Saved Reports > check the box for the name of the report you saved > OK. This report will now show up in your Toolbar at the top of the screen. Then you can click it and it will open just like you last customized it. It won't perfectly match what you want but it will provide a much narrower date range picture of Cap Gains/Losses and might even get you to that 1-step report that you want.

Here is a picture of what my Toolbar looks like with customized saved reports that I have selected to be shown there. It's a big time saver for me.

If you want to see the gain or loss from a particular sale, select the Sold transaction and click on Edit. Click on Specify Lots and you will see the lots selected and the total gain or loss for that sale. (3 clicks)

If you want to see the the gain or loss for a particular security for YTD or whatever, you can click on the gear at the top right of the account's register and under Reporting, select Investing Activity. The report will be filtered to include just that account. You can customize it to show just the security you want.

This is not quite what you are asking for, but fewer clicks than you describe above.

Thanks! good suggestions. I am unsure how much Quicken monitors these product ideas but thought it was a good idea.

Quicken does monitor the Idea posts, mainly to see how many users have voted for each one. It usually takes about 50 votes for an Idea to be considered for implementation.

Even with way more than 50 votes, it is often years (or never) before an idea is implemented.
