Quicken for Mac needs the ability to budget sinking funds
I understand that this is available on the cheapest version online, but not in the desktop versions. This is about the most important update I could think of. I have to do my sinking funds in a spreadsheet. That's ridiculous.

I think being able to print a simple budget vs actual report through the end of the last month or quarter is the most important budget update I can think of! 😉 But there's no need for us to debate what's most needed — there are lot of budget features users want to make the budget part of the program more useful and flexible.
There is an existing request for envelope budgeting, which I believe would encompass what you're seeking with sinking funds. (Typically, a sinking fund is saving for a specific future expense, such as a vacation, new car tires, or holiday gifts; while envelope budgeting is often used for setting aside an amount of money for specific spending categories each month, such as groceries or dining out. The developers have said envelope budgeting functionality is officially "Planned" for a future release, and depending how that is implemented, you should be able to use it for your specific future expenses even if they aren't recurring monthly or quarterly ones.
As with all future features, they offer no hint about when such a feature may appear beyond staying it is on their schedule.
