Asset Allocation Guide: Different Totals on Different Screens?

Hello:
Screen 1 of the Asset Allocation Guide, "How Can Quicken Help…" shows the correct investment total. It exactly matches the total investments in my accounts bar.
Screen 4, "How do I monitor my asset allocation" on the other hand only shows about half the investment total.

See attached screen shots. I blacked out the totals but imagine the investment total on the second shot being about half of the first. The difference is significant.

As suggested in a different thread for a different problem, I did close Quicken and delete the C:\ProgramData\Quicken\Cache folder. That did not solve.

Windows 10 Premier, R65.17

I appreciate any assistance.

    Hello @Ted Gallagher,

Thanks for providing the details and screenshots. To help narrow down what might be causing the discrepancy, could you clarify a few things?

    • Where is your Quicken data file stored? Is it on your local C: drive, or is it on a cloud-synced or external location like OneDrive, Dropbox, or a USB drive?
    • When did you first notice this difference between the screens?
    • Had there been any recent changes to your system or Quicken setup before this started—such as updates, new software installations, or other adjustments?

These details will help identify whether the issue is related to the data file, the application, or another factor.

    Thank you!

Thanks for your response and offer to help. To answer your questions:

    1. Local C-drive
    2. This was the first time I have tried using the tool; until now I was not aware of its existence 🤡
    3. Other than the R65.17 update (whenever that was) I have made no adjustments. I have used the same data file for quite some time.

Please let me know if you need additional information.

    Thanks,

I may have figured out most of the problem. After re-reading the "Customize for your Goals" section I went back to the Allocations section of the Investing tab. There in the top graph I found that the All Accounts and All Securities options were not selected. Fixing that made screens 1 and 4 of the Asset Allocation Guide match exactly. While that number is a few hundred dollars different from the Investing total on the Accounts list, I have not yet dug in to look for the different and can presently live with it.

    Sorry to have troubled you.

@Ted Gallagher Thanks for the update and for letting us know what resolved the discrepancy! I’m glad that selecting All Accounts and All Securities in the Allocations section made the Asset Allocation Guide screens match. Your explanation will likely help others who run into the same issue.

No need to apologize—you didn’t trouble us at all! We appreciate the detailed follow-up.

If you ever decide to dig into the slight difference between the Asset Allocation total and the Accounts list, feel free to reach out—we’d be happy to help.
