Bulk Split or change one category to two (split transaction)
Is it possible to bulk change past transactions into split transactions? The goal is to add a category and exactly split the amount 50/50.

The answer is ….no. Quicken can't do it on its own.

To my knowledge not directly within Quicken since when you select multiple transactions, the 'Split' option in the right-click menu becomes grayed out.
However, if you use the Quicken reports to narrow down your desired set of transactions, you can export it to Excel. Feed the Excel file to ChatGPT and ask to manipulate it by adding your second desired category, dividing the amounts by half, and repeat for every line. Most likely it will take a few trials and prompts to get it right but it is certainly doable.
Next you have to match Quicken's .CSV file format requirements and Quicken has a nice sample file for you: File > File Import > Banking Transactions > Create Sample File
Once all done, delete the old transactions in Quicken and import this file into Quicken. (File > File Import > Banking Transactions > From .CSV file).
Remember to always backup your Quicken file before making any changes. Also do this import work into a test Quicken file first to hash out errors etc. Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

Wouldn't it be nice if Quicken learned how to do that?
I mean, edit existing transactions and create a Split- two categories, 50/50 or other definable ratio
- calculate Sales Tax split from total amount, e.g., 109.50 total … Groceries: 100.00, Sales Tax 9.50
- more than two splits … three-way, four-way, etc. with definable split ratio
