How do I disable Quicken Password Vault
How do I disable, delete, quit, neuter, stop Quicken One Step Update Password Vault?!?
I do not want to use the Quicken Password Vault. I had no trouble with downloading updates until the "convenience" of the Update Vault was presented. IT IS NOT CONVENIENT for me.
Please do not try to tell me how to use it correctly and that I just don't understand how it can benefit me. I don't need it and I want it GONE from my operations!
And, after 18 years, I still miss MS Money. Mainly because it focused on user interface and users who ARE NOT accountants. 🙄

IF you have any accounts that download via Direct Connect, it's not possible to disable the Vault.
You can determine if there are any such accounts by clicking TOOLS, Account List and looking in the "Transactions Download" column.
For any such accounts, you'll need to either change to another download method, if the bank offers such, or discontinuing downloads into that account.

To delete the Password Vault: Tools > Password Vault > Delete Password Vault and All Saved Passwords.
Note:
- If you delete PWV and if you have any Direct Connect accounts, you will no longer be able to download from them without needing to manually enter the PWs during OSU.
- Deleting PWV will not impact any Express Web Connect or Express Web Connect+ connected accounts in any way. So if these are the only account connections that you have you can safely delete PWV without any issue.
If you do have Direct Connect accounts and you are being prompted to enter PWs for them every time you run OSU, it means that the PWs are not saved in the PWV. To fix this go to Tools > Password Vault > Add or Edit Passwords > select the financial institution > Add Password. Enter the missing PW(s) and then the first time you run OSU in a Quicken session you will need to enter the PW for PWV but that should be the only prompt you get.

I do not believe either of those statements to be true. I have two files where accounts are identified as having direct connection with Vanguard. Neither file has a password vault. In both files, if I call for a OSU, the programming allows me to enter the Vanguard password and then proceed to connect and download. While there is an option to save that password, it is not required. Doing so would, I believe, set up a password vault.
I accept but have not confirmed the directions from @Boatnmaniac about deleting an existing password vault. His later statements about getting prompted for the DC password are consistent with what I see, whereby OSU is more than one step. (It is more than one step in either case, anyway).
Note that in my two files, I am only entering one DC password. For me, it is either one DC password or one password vault password. If the user has multiple DC connections, it might be a choice between one password vault entry or multiple DC password entries, thus added value with the vault.
