This discussion was created from comments split from: Quicken Classic Mac 9.0 has been released!.
In this Community website there's a button called Recent Discussions.
Can a moderator take a look a that filter? This particular topic does not appear and I'm not sure why — it's clearly a recent discussion.
Hello @R1456,
Thank you for pointing this out!
I have passed this along internally, and we are looking into it.
Thanks again!
@R1456 I think this thread does appear, but you may not be seeing it because you have to scroll down a lot. Scroll down about 40 posts (or see my screenshots below) to see if you find it.
@Quicken Alyssa @Quicken Janean I just opened a private/incognito browser window to look at the Diuscussions page as a not-logged-in or new community user would see it. One significant problem is that the top of the page is filled with dozens of posts which were pinned Announcements months ago. By my count, there are 35 before I get to the first actual "recent" discussion. And this thread shows up a few blow that:
All the posts above the last five are old Announcement posts, some of which go back more than three years ago. Only after scrolling through those 35 Announcement threads do you get to the actual "recent" threads, in descending time order. (Worse, there's nothing which would clue a user into knowing these are pinned at the top of the page unless they click the 3-dot menu and select "Dismiss".) I feel the moderator team must be much more proactive about clearing these announcements so only a handful of truly "recent" announcements — like the top 5 above, which are the only ones in the past month — appear at the top of the Recent Discussions/Discussions page.
(I never see this issue as a user because I have my "View" at the top of the page set to "Following" rather than "All". This shows me recently threads from only the categories I have marked to follow — in my case, all the Mac categories, plus a few other — so I never see all this clutter at the top as someone who is viewing "All" would see.)
I heartily agree with @jacobs. In order to see all the recent discussions, I must routinely Dismiss any new announcements, which are mostly about connection issues with FIs that I have no interest in.
@Jim_Harman That's why changing the View setting to "Following" and following the categories I'm interested in has worked well for me as a way to navigate this site. One of the categories I do not follow: "Alerts, Online Banking & Product Issues". 😉 I follow all the Quicken Mac and Product Ideas for Quicken Mac categories, plus the Community and Before You Buy and probably a couple others. So this does mean I generally miss seeing threads which might be of interest in the Windows or Mobile/Web categories, but that's workable for me.
But the moderators have to dismiss Announcements, or change them to regular posts, when they become more than a few weeks old; there have to be only a handful of such pinned posts at any time, or the "Recent Discussions" page becomes problematic and just not useful for users who don't spend a lot of time on this site.
