Direct connect v. web express

I have been using Quicken for 15 plus years. All accounts with my bank are connected via Direct Connect. I'm trying to connect a new cd account. Set up defaults to web express and will not connect. If i try to switch to direct connect, set up changes the account type to a loan. any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

To better understand what may be happening, I have a few questions:

What is the name of your financial institution?
When you attempt to connect the account, do you receive any error codes or messages?
On your financial institution's website, is the account listed as a CD account, or is it being classified as a loan account?
If you add the account to Quicken using Direct Connect, are any transactions downloading into the register, or does the account appear without any downloaded transactions?

The answers to these questions will help us better determine what may be causing the issue.

Note that some banks do not support downloading of CD accounts. This is not anything Quicken controls. The bank determines which types of accounts they support for downloading into Quicken. If this is the case with your bank you can still track it in Quicken but will need to do that manually.

Also, you can try doing the following:

Back up the data file.
Go to Tools > Add Account instead of doing Set Up Now. Type in the name of the bank in the search field (do not click on the bank image if is shown there), left click on the bank from the list that is then shown there (do NOT double click on it nor click on Next). Is there a blue font link there for Advanced Options?
If so: Click on that link > Continue > you might need to click Continue Next after this…I can't remember > select Direct Connect > Next > enter your DC login information.
If this CD account support downloading via DC it should then show up. Then make sure to Link the downloaded data to your CD account in Quicken or, if the CD account is not already manually set up in Quicken, make sure to Add it as a new account. AND make sure to selected the correct account Type.

If the DC set up is not seeing your CD account: Some banks require that all connected accounts with them must first be deactivated and then to run the Add Account steps again.
