My Quicken file dates back to Jan 1,1998. It has become cumbersomely large. It takes around 4 minutes to load or to save and with each saved iteration, which duplicates all old data, consumes excessive storage space. I would like to save a copy of this file offline and put it in storage. Then I would like to select a date, freeze at that data at that date, and then delete the data prior to that date. With such an action the working file size could be greatly reduced. Quicken has said this is not possible, that my only option is to start a completely new file. This would require re-entering all the commonly used data, such as payee names. I would hope that if Quicken wants to retain long term users that it would make provisions for such users.
