Best self-directed HSA investment custodian for Quicken Classic Premier Subscription in 2026?

I'm looking for recommendations for the best self-directed HSA investment custodian to use with Quicken Classic Premier Subscription.

Current Quicken information:

• Quicken Classic Premier Subscription

• Version: R67.10

• Build: 27.1.67.10

• Windows 11 Home

My employer's HSA administrator is HSA Bank, but I understand I can transfer my HSA investment assets to another self-directed HSA investment custodian without losing the HSA tax advantages.

My highest priority is excellent Quicken Classic Premier integration. I use Quicken primarily for investment management, so reliable investment downloads are much more important to me than budgeting or expense tracking.

I actively manage my investments and want my HSA to download automatically as a true investment account with complete holdings, positions, and investment transactions.

For those of you who actively invest your HSA:

* Which self-directed HSA investment custodian do you use?
* Does it download correctly into Quicken Classic Premier Subscription?
* Does it download actual investment transactions (buys, sells, dividends, reinvestments, transfers, etc.), or only the HSA cash balance?
* Are the downloads reliable, or do you frequently have connection or sync problems?
* Which connection method does it use (Direct Connect, Express Web Connect+, or something else)?
* If you were opening a new self-directed HSA investment account today, which custodian would you choose and why?
* Approximately how long have you been using that HSA custodian with Quicken?

For context, I currently have HSA Bank with the HSA Invest Choice self-directed investment account (formerly the Schwab-linked HSA). I'm trying to decide whether to keep it there or transfer my HSA investments to another self-directed HSA investment custodian.

I'm not looking for the best HSA administrator—my employer chooses that. I'm specifically looking for the best self-directed HSA investment custodian for someone who actively manages investments and relies heavily on Quicken Classic Premier Subscription.

I resisted the move to HSA Bank and stuck with Schwab, which has worked fine.

I've not been an active trader in our Schwab HSA accounts so there might be some wrinkles in that regard.  As I recall all cash in the investment account held outside HSA Bank is supposed to flow to HSA bank and no "added money" is allowed in the investment account (this is per HSA Bank,} but cash dividends set for automatic reinvestment (our case) stays in the investment account with a next day Purchase bringing cash down to $0.

I would recommend Fidelity. It is basically a single low or no fee brokerage account attached to a debit card for medical spending. There are no fees associated with the HSA.

I have two HSA accounts with them, one since 2019 and the other since 2023. One was converted from HSA Administrators and the other from HSA Bank.

There were some hiccups recently when Fidelity converted from Direct Connect to Express Web Connect +, but those are basically resolved now. So far I have only used the investing side. All Transactions are downloaded.

Thank you for reaching out! There isn't a list of which HSA accounts integrate the best with Quicken. Do you have a list of HSAs that your employer is considering? Have you contacted those financial institutions to confirm if they support Quicken?

If there are specific HSAs you're considering, it may be beneficial to create a post asking about them.
