I have not been able to sync my PNC Bank accounts via Direct Connect. After trying to connect, a red colored "An Error Occurred" is shown, and nothing further happens.
Is this a current known issue?
Thank you,
Drew
Hi @Drew S,
Thank you for letting us know about the issue you're experiencing.
At this time, there are no known issues reported with PNC Bank related to the "An Error Occurred" message. To better understand what you're encountering, I have a few questions:
Your answers will help us better understand the issue and determine the most appropriate troubleshooting steps.
I look forward to your reply!
FWIW, I am seeing same errors since Saturday 8/1/2026 and they continue into today, 8/3/2026.
Hi @jtgolden11,
Thank you for joining this thread!
Just to confirm, is Quicken freezing, or are you seeing a different error after the One Step Update completes? If possible, could you upload a screenshot of the error message you're seeing? That will help us better understand the issue.
Just a one-step update OL-292-B error when trying to download transactions. Quicken does not freeze, Screenshot attached.
I have the same error message. started Aug 1,2026. PNC Bank Direct Connection.
Error Code
During the last online session, Quicken encountered an online error [OL-292-B].
Hello - this is what I receive. I did reach out to PNC bank directly, and they only directed me to clear my Microsoft Edge cache. This did not resolve the issue. I can continue with Quicken afterwards, no freezing and other financial institutions sync without issue. Only PNC Bank - Direct Connect that started on August 1st.
Hi @Bschw, @jtgolden11 and @Drew S, Thank you for trying those troubleshooting steps.
I have created an investigation ticket for this issue, CBT-1225. If you haven't done so already, I recommend submitting your logs by going to Help > Report a Problem.
Once you've submitted the logs, please let me know so I can add your information to the investigation ticket.

[Edited - Updated ticket number]
Carlos,
I just sent my logs.
Thanks for your reply! I have added your information to the investigation ticket.
I have been having the same issue since 8/1 as well. It started out as OL-297-A and then switched to OL0292-B on 8/3. I can download via direct connect from other financial institutions, so it is an issue between Quicken and PNC. This is getting old; this would be the 3rd instance with PNC since Oct of 2025. Hi @MBaron, Thank you for joining this thread!
If you haven't done so already, I recommend reporting the problem as described in the previous comment so I can add your information to the investigation ticket.
Hi, I have had the same issue since 8/1 or 8/2. I tried the resolutions above. I also get the OL-292-B error when I'm trying to sync. I am also trying to send transactions. I already did the "Report a Problem" and included the logs.
Hi @rickertc, Thank you for sending the report. I have added your information to the investigation ticket. [CTP-18029]
Here we go again! PNC Direct Connect has been perfect for me since 6-5-26. But, since this last Friday 7/31/26, I get an OL-292-B connection error (invalid request) intermittently. It takes maybe 10-15 connection retries before I get a green globe and downloaded transactions and uploaded payments. It does always eventually go through….. but it might take me 15 minutes of retrying. Happens with scheduled updates, OSU updates and account updates. Since my PNC DC updates eventually complete, I doubt this is a local files issue or even a Quicken problem. Feels like another PNC DC server or connectivity issue.
Is anyone else this week having trouble getting PNC Direct Connect to complete with a green ball?? If it doesn’t clear up in the next 48 hours, I guess I’ll start the support process with PNC tier 3 again. That has been painful and time consuming in the past.
Charlie
Same error here for at least 2 days. Logs submitted under ticket CBT-1225.
Thanks!
Hello @charlieo.Hemlock & @JeffJ2,
Thank you for letting us know you're also affected by this issue and for sending a problem report with log files attached!
It will help our teams investigate the issue!
(CTP-18029)
FYI. I’ve submitted logs the last 3 days.
I will create a case with PNC Tier 3 tomorrow as well.
Just sent logs - referencing ticket CTP-18029. Thank you.
Two days in a row now with this error. OL-292-B for Direct Connect with PNC Bank. Anyone else see this?
I, too, have been getting the OL-292-B error code with PNC since the morning of 8/2.
I don't have time for this I am in and out of town every other week, now I am behind again big time without being able to download transactions for my PNC accounts while in town. Tired of submitting logs as I don't think it does anygood in speeding up the process of getting it fixed any faster. Calling PNC Tier 3 does no good either from my past experiences either as they wants logs, screen shots etc. and never call you back until after the issue is fixed if at all. Their representatives are rude and don't provide much information. I have other long hold calls to make and if I find time to do this I will if not I will just keep checking here and waiting for the fix to come thru. I will try @Boatnmaniac suggestion and keep trying the OSU over and over for my 1 group of accounts I need and will let you know if that works for me.
@Boatnmaniac thank you so very much for your advise to try over and over again, it took about 2-3 minutes of retrying for each group of accounts to get the OSU update to work! Not an IT person, but to me that tells me if it took you 15 minutes and me only 2-3 minutes (early in the morning here just before 7 am) that this could be an issue with whatever server they are using is exceeding max number of requests and ours go thru at the window of when we fit into the allowed number of requests. Again that is just my thoughts based on years of using computers and dealing with servers or whatever platform processes our requests at PNC. So hope that helps people until this gets 100% resolved. Great dedication by @Boatnmaniac to find a work around for us!
Actually, I find that the time it takes to get a “green” globe and download is not dependent on the time of day or even the day of the week (weekend vs Tuesday, etc.). I have had it take 15 minutes at 5:30AM EST. I am still guessing it’s a comm issue between PNC and Direct Connect. I hope that the Quicken support center staff are able to make PNC aware that THEY have an issue ….. I hate the “disconnect-reconnect … need a clean file” schtick …. when we know the data files are good (because it eventually connects) and its a waste of time. Wouldn’t it be awesome if PNC had folks on this Quicken Forum monitoring for issues that flair up like this?? Charlie
I've also been having the same issue for Aug 4-5.
Yes, I am getting the same error code
This morning I got the OL-295-B error code, again.
I normally wait 2-3 days to do troubleshooting because often this kind of error code will self-resolve within that time period. So, today is the 3rd day and I decided to do the following:
This now makes 2 of us this morning that apparently have resolved this issue. It would be great if others who are still having this issue would try doing steps #2-#3 and let us know the results.
this did not resolve my issue. I was able to see the accounts trying to 'add account' again, but same error for me.
I am also seeing this error (ol-292) for the past few days. Logs submitted.
edited for clarity
Hi all,
Thank you, @Boatnmaniac, for sharing your troubleshooting steps. We appreciate you taking the time to provide that information, and it may help others experiencing a similar issue.
@Drew S & @pepito141,
I'm sorry to hear that the troubleshooting steps did not resolve the issue. Thank you for submitting your log files; I've attached them to the open case for further review by our team.
Please let me know if anything changes on your end or if you notice any improvements.
is there any troubleshooting or recommendations from Quicken Support?
Is this isolated or more of a widespread issue in regards to PNC Bank - Direct Connect?
Thank you-
@Boatnmaniac I did try steps 2 and 3 today 8/5 with no real change in the results. Still got the OL-292-B error as before with PNC Direct Connect.
After I tried, I did an OSU twice…. same error. Closed Quicken and restarted Quicken. Did an OSU twice and an “update now” …. on the 3rd try I got it to complete and my file downloaded. I really don’t think anything I do or did on my end is improving the issue (like closing and re-opening). I think it’s just a matter of timing, and where my request gets parked in the queue (requesting data from Direct Connect). I am still guessing this is a Direct Connect to PNC problem that PNC needs to fix. Please let us know if your PNC DC stays fixed or if you start to see OL errors again. Fingers crossed!! If yours stays fixed… I’ll try the steps yet again.
Update 8/5/26 2PM EST. I just processed 2 BillPays. Took me just two OSU attempts to get the green completion ball and the lightning bolt with no OL-292-B errors. 💪. Took me about the same to get my data file downloaded earlier today. Is the PNC DC issue fixed? No, not for me. Is it much easier today to get a green globe and completion? YES. It is now taking me about 3 attempts and a few minutes versus 15-20 attempts and 15 minutes.
Just did only step two above and OSU then worked the first time after about 15 attempts yesterday and today that had all resulted in the OL-292-B error. If the error comes back I will reply here.
As an weird aside, I called PNC support yesterday. The 3rd or fourth person I spoke to said they were transferring me to Quicken PNC support. The line was picked up by a very confused hotel clerk in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She said they were getting a lot of calls for Quicken (PNC) support. She was very sweet and although she could not help with Quicken she did say she could book a room for me.
At this time, there are no additional troubleshooting steps to provide. Our team is actively investigating the issue, and we'll share any updates as soon as new information becomes available.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
I'm glad to hear that your update was successful!
At this time, we haven't received any new information from our team regarding a definitive fix. We'll share any updates as soon as new information becomes available.
Same OL-292-B error with PNC Direct Connect for me. With this many people getting exactly the same error (and there's another thread about it in the "Downloads" section), this is obviously not a case of needing to clean your Quicken file, or clear your browser cache, or any of the other nonsense suggestions.
8/6/26 5:31AM EST Update
Good news! I hope!..
I just did THREE PNC Direct Connect OSU's with a green ball and completion each time. Sent two BillPays as well. No OL-292-B errors this AM!!
I will try again at 9AM … when I usually download my payments, etc.
Anyone else seeing a positive change???? Fingers crossed!
PNC Direct Connect sync worked for me this morning 8/6 7:11 AM Eastern.
One additional thing I'm noticing now, is that in the Account List, the "Last Download" field is no longer populating correctly for all accounts, even though it did sync.
Great news!
8/6/26 8:32AM
Just did another 2 OSU's with no errors and green globes! Downloaded expected file too.
I think it may be fixed :-) ….. anyone else seeing consistent green globes???
I was able to send my payments and download transactions this morning 8/6/26 at about 9am. One thing though, it seems that it may have successfully sent a couple of the payments previously, so I ended up with one duplicate payment. I was able to cancel the 2nd one though.
I did 3-4 syncs.
Chris
Go to Tools > Password Vault > Add or Edit Passwords: For PNC, what does the Password Stored column show….Yes or
I, too, have been having the OL-292-B error codes for the past few days.
I deactivated all accounts and tried adding them, but Quicken indicated that there was an error connecting to the bank. I called PNC this morning and they reset my Quicken PIN to the very first one I had received by USPS letter. Then I was able to reconnect and link to all accounts. The PNC Update Now and OSU both worked. Then, this afternoon, the OL-292-B error returned again!
Hence, I tried steps 2 and 3 above, and it found my account and told me that they were already linked. I then tried PNC Update, but, unfortunately, have the OL-292-B error yet again. I am running Quicken Classic Premier Version R68.31, Build 27.1.68.31 on Windows 11 Enterprise
@motjebben I am also getting the OL-292-B after trying steps 2-3. I thought PNC fixed it all yesterday…. but the same problem reappeared today. Just an FYI …. do not give up trying to connect with a successful update!! At 4:30PM today I processed three BillPays … but it took me 21 retries of the OSU over about 5-8 minutes. Eventually I think you will get the green globe of success :-). Charlie
