Hi - I opened up the initial problem a couple of months ago (see below) and a couple of notes about the answer 1) You CAN have RSUs in non-US currency as I do now. The RSUs get converted to USD before you deal with the taxes and 2) even if you couldn't have RSUs, I'm merely asking for a way to change the investment goal on the RSU itself. If you can just do that I will be very happy. Please advise.
When you create an account in Q, you can designate the currency of the account. ONLY a single currency can be held in ANY account in Q.
SO, an RSU that's in GBP would have to be in an investment account that's designated as GBP.
BUT, as stated in the other post, the tax implications of such an investment can't be managed as Q is only licensed for use in the US and Canada, and only the tax rules for those countries are supported.
As a result, I doubt that Q will ever correctly support the tax implications of your specific RSUs
@NickDiG99 have you been able to create the RSU security in Quicken? And the step that is failing is assigning an investing goal to the RSU security?
The "base security" is in GBP. The RSU security in GBP. I have an investment goal on the base security of "Growth". I would merely like to put the investment goal on the RSU security to "Growth" as well. I have no idea why making sure the currencies match has anything to do with what the investment goal is, but as a programmer it sounds like spaghetti code.
I just want to make the investment goal on the RSU security "growth". That's it. Instead I get this.
@NickDiG99 I am not sure this will work, but you may be able to get around the validations enforced by the GUI if you use QIF import to create the security.
Here is an example showing the structure of the QIF for importing a security with an investing goal.
QIF
Explanation
!Type:Security
Always the same for each security
NCelera ESPP
Replace Celera ESPP with the name of your RSU security
SCRA
Replace CRA with the symbol of your security
TESPP
Replace ESPP with the RSU security type, presumably RSU
GGrowth
This is the security's goal
^
You can use Notepad or other text editor to create the QIF file. Then use File | File Import | QIF File to import. Here is an example showing the QIF Import window:
I have played with this, and it isn't just that the investment goal, trying to change anything when RSU is selected results in the same message. I think the error message is misleading. It is really saying "this security is locked down, and so you can't change anything".
If I would have to guess this is sloppy coding that is overly restrictive of what can be changed.
@Chris_QPW well darn, that is not good news.
I tried @mshiggins hack and it didn't work for me. It said it imported it, but it didn't change anything.
Same I just tried it too to no avail. Thanks both.
The more I think about it, this is a bug and it should be reported as a bug.
The one thing I was able to change is the security type. And once I changed it, I couldn't change it back.
I think they are protecting the wrong fields.
How do you report it as a bug? Never done it before (at least with Quicken). My real job I've probably solved "several" in my career lol
Help → Report a problem…
There isn't any feedback on that though.
@Quicken Kristina can you help on getting this problem some attention?
Hello All,
Thank you for letting us know you're seeing this behavior. I replicated it and forwarded the issue to the proper channels for further investigation. Thank you for sending the problem report with log files attached. It will help with the investigation!
Thank you!

Thank you Kristina!
Yes thank you I sent over a bug report a little while ago. Just seems to be an unnecessary check that should be simple to resolve.
Even when I consider the logs unneeded I consider it a "vote" for letting them know people are having a given problem. Even with problems I'm sure they have plenty to work on and as such have to decide on priorities.
I did some additional testing. The QIF import will not make changes to an already existing security, but it will include the Investing goal if the QIF is creating a new security.
This is Q2017 R15. Subscription version behavior is 🤷♀️
I tried creating a new security and giving it the goal of growth and then creating the RSU and it didn't transfer the investment goal to the RSU. Where you able to make a RSU security from your new security and have it transfer the investment goal?
Not sure if this is helpful - but in my case, the new security has the goal of "growth". It's the RSU that I can't set. What's interesting and maybe I should have pointed out - I got RSU's both in USD and in GBP at my company. The USD ones are fine. It's only the GBP ones that have a problem. Although it may go back to Quicken not thinking you can't have an RSU in GBP and just "taking it's ball and going home"
And this. The PLC ones are in USD, the GBP is in GBP. Different stock symbols too, the GBP ones I can get the price from the London Stock Exchange which is great.
