Updating Quicken on Mac

Updating quicken on my Mac air laptop. We are using Quicken version 1.7.4 with a build version of 4.7362.400. The Mac air is running th latest OS. The quicken software will not open any longer. What are my options? Online version? Is there a new version that will open my older data file? We need to make a move cause we do not want to start over. Our data goes back over a decade. Thanks.

1 There is no online version of Quicken

2 Quicken Mac 2018 should be able to read and convert your Quicken Mac data.

Be aware that Quicken Mac 2018 is still a work in progress and may not meet your needs as it still has underdeveloped reporting capabilities and can not account for transfers as income or expenses in reports (unless you use a workaround) or budgets (which won't work regardless).

You were running Quicken Essentials for Mac. QM2018 will do everything that QEM did and much, much more. And it will import your QEM data file.

See this for a comparison of features across the three editions: Starter, Deluxe and Premier:

You can buy a one year subscription directly from Quicken or 24 or 27 months from various retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, Staples, etc). Shop for price.

When the subscription expires, you can continue using the program indefinitely but without online connectivity and future program updates. The exception is the Starter edition which will become read-only when the subscription expires.

After the subscription expires will Quicken 2017/2018 still be able to read/import qfx files?

No, importing QFX files is considered part of the online functionality. That expires April 30, 2020 for QM2017 and at the end of whatever subscription period you purchased for QM2018.

    Thanks.

I guess I'll see whether "Quicken 2019/2020" has fixed/improved the reporting and decide what to do then.

Bear in mind that "model years" for Quicken may be a thing of the past. But you can keep up with the change logs here:
