What does File->File Operations->Validate and Repair->Rebuild Investing Lots do? Can it be done for

Not explicitly clear what it does do. In principle, it should be reviewing all "share change" transactions -- Buys, Sells, Add, Remove, Reinv___, and possibly RtrnCap. The Sells and Removes should be cross-checking versus lot specifications for those transactions - that no lot has been committed to a sale more than once.
It cannot be restricted to a single account. It should not 'damage' an account in good working order.
It is often considered to be good policy to have a backup before any Validate and Repair function is applied.0 -
Not sure how it works for Windows, but for QM2007 and older, it rebuilds the lot assignments (to supposedly fix anomalies in the data) following FIFO rules, so that if you sold lots in a different order, that info would be replaced.q.lurker said:Not explicitly clear what it does do. Since QWin provides for lot specification other than FIFO, I expect the rebuild to work with that data and not force a FIFO, which is a point I was trying to make. QM2007 does have lot assignment...it simply reverts back to FIFO when rebuilding lots. As long as QWin does not, that is good.q.lurker said:Not explicitly clear what it does do.
